The story of an incident that occurred with the Shaykh regarding the issue of repeating the congregation in a single mosque.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I remember clearly that once, when some of the Shaykhs passed away to the mercy of Allah, I stated that it is not prescribed to have multiple congregations in a single mosque that has a regular imam and a regular mu'adhdhin. This is a matter our brothers know, and whoever does not know it should ask those who do. I met him in front of the mosque, and he said, "You say such and such." I said, "Yes." He said, "How is that?" I said, "The Imams said this." I brought him the book *Al-Umm* by Imam al-Shafi'i, who is truly of the Shafi'i school. When I read the phrase to him, he said, "We do not follow the words of the Imam." We do not follow the words of the Imam! I asked him, "Why?" He said, "Because Imams came after Imam al-Shafi'i, and they studied his opinions, and they found in them the stronger position and the weaker position, so we follow what they preferred." I wanted to draw his attention to what they accuse us of. I said to him, "So in al-Shafi'i's words there is a stronger position and a weaker position; meaning there is right and wrong, and those who came after him distinguished his right from his wrong?" The man was stunned by this surprise, then he turned the subject and said, "We are Bajuri, we are not Shafi'i." We are Bajuri! This is the reality of all those who follow scholars without knowing their evidence. Today, neither the Hanafi follows Abu Hanifah, nor the Shafi'i follows al-Shafi'i, and so it has become with the followers of scholars.
