How do we understand the hadith of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the lowering of his garment?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Eid Abbasi- also - he has answered this repeatedly: How did the Messenger (peace be upon him) permit Abu Bakr to let his garment hang down?

The Shaykh : This, I seek refuge in Allah!! The Messenger did not permit it; this is a very great error.

Eid Abbasi : A mistaken understanding!!

The Shaykh : The hadith of Abu Bakr - O our brothers - is misunderstood by some of the brothers. The hadith of Abu Bakr did not allow the Messenger to lengthen his garment, but Abu Bakr, out of his eagerness for his religion and his distance from contradicting the law of his Prophet (peace be upon him), when he heard that severe warning from the Messenger (peace be upon him):
Whoever drags his garment out of arrogance, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection
. He said: O Messenger of Allah, my garment falls down. He said:
You are not doing it out of arrogance
. It falls down, it does not come up, and I have said this repeatedly. Now, for example, in some Arab countries, the customs of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance have begun to return, such as the pre-Islamic age of ignorance pride and arrogance and the like, where you find the abaya... such and such, dragging it on the ground. This is perhaps truly when the abaya is like this, a little behind, being dragged, but when they tailored it, how did they tailor it? At the lowest level... The Messenger (peace be upon him) said... it almost exposes her major 'awrah (part of the body that must be covered). This is all from the inspiration of Satan, O people, not from the inspiration of the Most Merciful, never; therefore, do not try to justify reality with various rationalizations, and when a person returns to his religion and his mind, he feels completely that this is not the Shari'ah (Islamic sacred law). We distinguish between the one who intends and the one who does not intend.
Therefore, I found some of the moderate, well-versed Hanafi scholars, indeed jurists, and I do not say well-versed, I found him saying a very rare word that we find with the others; because the issue seems clear to them, but this man noticed the precision of this issue, so he said, commenting on the previous hadith of Hudhayfah when the Messenger (peace be upon him) arranged for him the positions of the garment, and said to him finally:
but the Izar has no right to (come to) the ankle
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5329Sahih (Darussalam)
He does not want people to criticize him; he may be in university, he may be an employee, and so on, he does not do it out of arrogance, but this does not justify this error for him, he must strive and fight... if it is below the ankles and he intends with it arrogance and pride, then this is the one about which that severe warning came:
at whom Allah will not look on the Day of Resurrection
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2562Hasan (Darussalam)
, and in its like came the authentic hadith in al-Bukhari and Muslim:
While a man from those before us was walking, having lengthened his garment out of arrogance, the earth swallowed him; so he tumbles in it until the Day of Resurrection
; this is the worst of the levels, slightly milder than that is lengthening below the ankles without this arrogance, what is above that is permissible, and the best of it is that it be below the knees.
