The Shaykh’s analogy of congregational prayer to the Friday prayer regarding the prohibition of repeating the congregation in the same mosque.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And from the perspective of transmission, we found that along with the previous hadith of Abu Hurayrah, which says in its first part
I intended لقد هممت
— “Be kind to your neighbor” — we found, along with the previous Abu Hurayrah hadith,
I intend that I should command a person to lead people in prayer لقد هممت أن آمر رجلا فيصلي بالناس
Sahih Muslim 652
to the end of the hadith, which contains
for their attendance لشهدها
meaning the Isha prayer. We found, along with this hadith, a similar hadith regarding the Friday prayer, narrated by Imam Muslim in his Sahih, from the hadith of Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, in which he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I intended to order a man to lead the people in the Friday prayer, and then I would burn the houses of the people who lagged behind the Friday prayer لقد هممت ان آمر رجلا فيصلي بالناس صلاة الجمعة ثم أحرّق على أناس بيوتهم يتخلفون عن صلاة الجمعة
Just as the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding congregational prayer, he said exactly the same regarding the Friday prayer.
This indicates two things to us. The first is that congregational prayer is obligatory, just like the Friday prayer. Of course, this similarity does not necessarily have to be one hundred percent, because saying “Zayd is like a lion” means from a certain angle. Therefore, I mean that congregational prayer is like the Friday prayer in terms of its obligation, but obligation has degrees. This is what the hadith indicates first. Second, just as the Friday prayer is not repeated in the same mosque, and he threatened to burn the houses of those who lagged behind it, so too congregational prayer is not repeated, and he threatened to burn the houses of those who lagged behind it.
