The questioner : Well, Shaykh, the hadith of Abu Dawud from Samurah: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to order us to give zakah from what we set aside for sale?

The Shaykh : Yes, this hadith is weak in Abu Dawud, and there is obscurity in its chain of narration. Therefore, it does not serve as a proof. There is no doubt that the practical Sunnah is that the wealthy did not give zakah on their wealth according to the detail explained earlier. This hadith, despite the weakness of its chain, contradicts the practical Sunnah followed by our righteous predecessors. Recently, we published what Imam Ahmad narrated in his Musnad, and others have also narrated it in other works. Yes.
