The Shaykh : Perhaps you have heard the Qudsi hadith which says to the one who mentions Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in secret: Mishkat al-Masabih 2264. So the Imam al-Dhahabi, who is among the Imams of the Salaf in the Salafi creed in general, and in the creed of the true speech of Allah in particular, says: In this hadith is the affirmation of the two types of speech, the mental speech and the verbal speech. And this is, in reality, a refutation of both groups, and he did not favor anyone; it is a refutation of the group that denies the true verbal divine speech, and of the other group that denies the mental speech. Rather, he says: Mishkat al-Masabih 2264; this means that this servant who mentions Allah (Mighty and Majestic) before people, as you hear, Allah rewards him with something better than his likeness, so He mentions this servant specifically to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) before a gathering of people in a gathering better than his gathering.
So in this hadith there are two parts... the attribute of the true verbal speech and the attribute of the mental speech.
If he remembers me inwardly I shall remember him inwardly, and if he remembers me among people I shall remember him among people who are better than they.
إذا ذَكَرَني في نفسه ذَكَرْتُه في نفسي ، وإذا ذَكَرَني في ملأ ذكرتُه في ملأ خير من ملئهIf he remembers me inwardly I shall remember him inwardly, and if he remembers me among people I shall remember him among people who are better than they.
إذا ذَكَرَني في نفسه ذَكَرْتُه في نفسي ، وإذا ذَكَرَني في ملأ ذكرتُه في ملأ خير من ملئهSo in this hadith there are two parts... the attribute of the true verbal speech and the attribute of the mental speech.
