The questioner : Is it permissible for a husband to prevent his wife from performing the obligatory Hajj?
The Shaykh : It is not permissible for a husband to prevent his wife from performing the obligatory Hajj, because there is no obedience to a created being in disobedience to the Creator. If the wife has money and has a mahram (a relative one may not marry) who is ready to accompany her on Hajj, and she has not yet performed the obligatory Hajj, and she asks her husband to let her go but he refuses, then he is not to be obeyed in that matter, and she may perform Hajj without his consent. However, if she fears that he will divorce her, she may delay it, because divorce would be a harm to her. And Allah the Exalted said:[Ali 'Imran 3:97].
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
