Some institutions deal with interest-based banks; is it permissible to work in them?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A brother says that some companies invest their funds in interest-based institutions. Does the one who works in them commit a sin, especially since his salary includes something of this nature?

The Shaykh : What is the relationship between the salary and the issue, and what is his salary?

The questioner : I mean, his salary comes from these institutions that deal in riba (usury or interest). Does the worker in these institutions commit a sin?

The Shaykh : This question is an example of the questions we drew your attention to this morning as being frequent. Our Lord says:
but do not cooperate in sin and aggression ولا تعاونوا عل الإثم والعدوان
[Al-Ma'idah 5:2]
. Therefore, cooperating with people who engage in disobedience to Allah is not permissible at all, based on this verse and the well-known hadiths...
the accepter of interest and its payer, and one who records it, and the two witnesses آكل الربا وموكله وكاتبه وشاهديه
Sahih Muslim 1598
and the other hadith
Allah has cursed ten people regarding intoxicants. لعن الله في الخمر عشرة
. All of this confirms that a Muslim must not be an aid to a Muslim in what is a place for what Allah the Mighty and Majestic has forbidden. It is not permissible to deal with interest-based banks, nor to be an employee there, even in the lowest position, even if he were a janitor who cleans up dirt and collects it. Yes.

The questioner : Some private and government institutions deduct a portion of an employee's salary as his savings, and the institution invests the proceeds of the employees' salaries in an interest-based manner. Is it forbidden to work in such an institution?

The Shaykh : The answer is the same.
