Some companies invest their funds in interest-based institutions; is the one who works for them sinful, especially if his salary includes something of this kind?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says — a brother is asking —: Some companies invest their funds in interest-based institutions; is the one who works for them sinful, especially if his salary includes something of this kind?

The Shaykh : How? What is his connection to the matter? And what is it? His salary.

The questioner : His salary, meaning from these institutions that deal in riba (usury or interest); is the worker in these institutions sinful?

The Shaykh : This question is one of the examples of the questions we drew your attention to this morning, which are frequent. And Allah says:
but do not cooperate in sin and aggression وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:2]
, so dealing with people who commit disobedience to Allah is not permissible, and cooperating with them is absolutely forbidden, because of this verse and the well-known hadiths prohibiting a Muslim from being a scribe for a moneylender, in the well-known hadith:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) cursed the accepter of interest and its payer, and one who records it, and the two witnesses لعن الله آكل الربا ، وموكله ، وكاتبه ، وشاهديه
Sahih Muslim 1598
. And in the other hadith:
May Allah curse ten people in intoxicants لعن الله في الخمرة عشرة
. So all of this confirms that a Muslim must not be an aid to a Muslim in what is a place for what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has forbidden. So companies that deal with interest-based banks should not be dealt with, and one should not be an employee there, even in the lowest position, even if he were a sweeper who sweeps up dirt and collects it.
Yes.
