Continuation of the discussion on the description of the prayer, and on the importance of the words of dhikr (remembrance of Allah) reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : ... His time for performing this tasbih (glorification) helps him to settle his limbs while he is in prostration; so when he raises his head from the bowing to the prostration, here too he should control himself, and he should not follow the first prostration immediately with the second, but rather he must say what is established from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) that he used to say between the two prostrations:
My Lord, forgive me, have mercy on me, heal me, raise me, guide me, and provide for me.
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 5:246
. "Rizquni" (provide for me) is interpreted in the most comprehensive general sense, meaning from the good of this world and the Hereafter
My Lord, forgive me, have mercy on me, heal me, raise me, guide me, and provide for me.
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 5:246
. It may be difficult for some people to memorize ... . That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to repeat
Rabbighfir li, Rabbighfir li (O Lord forgive me, O Lord forgive me)
Sunan Ibn Majah 897Sahih (Darussalam)
. This is easy; it is not difficult for any person praying, and he is sitting between the two prostrations repeating "My Lord, forgive me, my Lord, forgive me." By doing so, he achieves tranquility, certainly. And there is no doubt that the longer he prolongs the prostration, the bowing, and what is between them, the better it is and the greater his reward with Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). So this is the completion of the guidelines to which our brother Abu Abdullah drew attention.
The student : The order of the dhikr between the two prostrations, "My Lord, forgive me and have mercy on me" ... obligatory and ... did the first unit precede the second?

The Shaykh : No, if the hadith comes in one pattern, then it is obligatory to adhere to it; but if the narrations are multiple and it is not possible to prefer one narration over another, then acting according to any narration means he has come with the Sunnah. Otherwise, the principle is that we preserve the recitation as it came in terms of order and wording; because this is how the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) taught.
The student : In a narration, "and grant me health"?

The Shaykh : And grant me health?
The student :
My Lord, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, grant me health, provide for me, and heal me.
Sahih Ibn Hibban 10:95
...

The Shaykh : Yes, it is possible. This is what I memorize, and the answer is exactly as you heard, yes.
The student : What comes to mind, Abu Abd al-Rahman, is that the one who performed his prayer poorly is that the prayer he was performing was long, because he told him, "Give the adhan, then give the iqamah."

The Shaykh : There is no doubt.
The student : ... Because the Sunnah...

The Shaykh : There is no doubt in that at all.
The student : This is
My Lord, forgive me and my parents.
,
My Lord, have mercy on them as they raised me when I was small.
. Is this correct?

The Shaykh : It is permissible, may Allah bless you, without doubt. But the best is that the Muslim always follows the teaching of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), because his teaching is the best teaching. So if it was not easy for him to learn what came in the Sunnah of the recitations and dhikr in every place of the prayer, then whatever supplication he supplicates with is permissible. But I repeat, the best is to come with what came from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and to make his concern to learn, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
offer your prayers in the way you saw me offering my prayers
Sahih al-Bukhari 6008
. Supplication, the scope of supplication is very wide, so whatever the Muslim supplicates with in the prayer, especially while he is in prostration, is permissible; due to the generality of his (peace and blessings be upon him) saying:
The closest a servant is to his Lord is when he is in prostration, so increase in it of supplication, for it is likely that it will be answered for you.
. It is likely that your supplication will be answered in the state of prostration, which is when the Muslim is closest to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) and His mercy. But there is a hadith that draws attention to the fact that the teaching of the Messenger must be given importance. It has come in Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught al-Bara' ibn 'Azib the recitation for sleep. He said to him (peace and blessings be upon him):
I submit myself to You, and I turn my face to You, and I entrust my affair to You
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3394Sahih (Darussalam)
. On the right, on the right, on the corner, yes;
Al-Bara' bin `Azib narrated that: The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him: “Should I not teach you some words to say when you go to your bed, so if you died, you will die upon the Fitrah, and if you reach the morning, you will reach it in good? You say: ‘O Allah, verily, I submit myself to You, and I turn my face to You, and I entrust my affair to You, hoping in You and fearing in You. And I lay myself down depending upon You, there is no refuge [nor escape] from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed, and in Your Prophet whom You have sent (Allāhumma innī aslamtu nafsī ilaika wa wajjahtu wajhī ilaika, wa fawwaḍtu amrī ilaika, raghbatan wa rahbatan ilaika wa alja'tu ẓahrī ilaika, lā malja'a [wa lā manjā] minka illā ilaik. Āmantu bikitābikal-ladhī anzalta wa binabiyyikal-ladhī arsalt).’” Al-Bara' said: “So I said: ‘And in Your Messenger whom you have sent.’” He said: “So he (ﷺ) struck his hand upon my chest, then said: “And in Your Prophet whom You have sent. (Wa binabiyyikal-ladhī arsalt).” اللهم إني أسلمت نفسي إليك وفوضت أمري إليك وألجأت ظهري إليك لا ملجأ ولا منجا منك إلا إليك آمنت بكتابك الذي أنزلت ، وبنبيك الذي أرسلت
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3394Sahih (Darussalam)
. He said to him (peace and blessings be upon him):
So if you say that or do that and die during that night, you will die upon the fitrah (the innate natural disposition).
. Al-Bara' heard this supplication from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and repeated it before the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), but he made a mistake in the last sentence of it, where he said instead of his saying:
I believe in Your Book which You revealed and Your Messenger whom You sent.
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 64:1200
. Instead of saying
Your Prophet whom You sent.
No, and he struck him on the chest.
and said to him
Say, "And in Your Prophet whom You sent."
instead of
and in Your Prophet whom You sent
And in Your Prophet whom You sent.
; because the scholars say that every Messenger is a Prophet, but not every Prophet is a Messenger. So if the teaching of the Messenger said to him
Say, "And in Your Prophet whom You sent."
And in Your Prophet whom You sent.
. So why did the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) disapprove of him? He disapproved of him because he contradicted his teaching. He taught him to say
And in Your Prophet whom You sent.
He (peace and blessings be upon him) was not pleased with that from him and disapproved of this change, and he alerted him that he must say
And in Your Prophet whom You sent.
. Now, please, attend to the food. May Allah preserve you. In the name of Allah.
