What is the ruling on walking in prayer from the second row to the first to fill a gap?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Prayer has its obligatory acts, such as the purity of the body and the purity of... etc. It is correct, it is correct that he is not yet of age; but as long as he is praying, he should adhere to what the adults do. The hadith of Ibn Abbas is explicit that he had not yet reached the age of accountability.
The student : If there is a gap in the first row, a person moves from the second row to the first row.

The Shaykh : To fill a gap?
The student : Yes, exactly.

The Shaykh : This is obligatory.
The student : ...And is this statement correct?

The Shaykh : It is not correct, because the one who carries out the command of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)
then he should repulse him and if he refuses, he should use force against him for he is a Shaitan (a Satan). فليدفعه فإن أبى فليقاتله فإنما هو شيطان
Sahih al-Bukhari 509
is in prayer, is that clear?
The student: Yes.
The student : Regarding this command to fight...

The Shaykh : You are talking about the present time. Many legal rulings have fallen into disuse, but we must know and try to apply what we can of them... and what we are able to do regarding them. However, the important thing is that a person does not, due to ignorance and custom, reach a level where not a grain of faith remains in his heart. This is based on his (peace and blessings be upon him) saying:
He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do it, then he should do it with his tongue, and if he has not strength enough to do it, (even) then he should (abhor it) from his heart, and that is the least of faith. من رأى منكم منكرا فليغيره بيده فإن لم يستطع فبلسانه فإن لم يستطع فبقلبه وذلك أضعف الإيمان
Sahih Muslim 49a
And there is no grain of faith beyond that. وليس وراء ذلك ذرة من إيمان
As it came in another hadith. If a Muslim does not know the ruling, it is possible that not a grain of faith remains in his heart. But if he knows the ruling, the important thing is that this is an evil that we do not approve of, or that we do not accept.
