What is the ruling on guiding the dying?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Among them, some of the young generation do not practice it, while some of the elderly shaykhs do practice it. So he said, "Perhaps you have heard of this guiding of the dying." I said to him, "I have heard of it and written about it."

The Shaykh : ... rulings on funerals and their innovations.
Abu Layla : Let them stick to the concise version and go through ...

The Shaykh : ... a book, in brief, titled "A Summary of the Rulings on Funerals," meaning ...
The Shaykh: There are two types of guiding the dying: what is prescribed and what is not prescribed. The prescribed guiding is when the person is on the verge of death, when he is dying but still hears and sees, and so on. This guiding is prescribed; but if the person has died and been placed in the grave, this guiding is not permissible here. That first guiding is a recommended practice (sunnah), and this second guiding is a religious innovation (bid'ah). First, regarding the prescribed guiding, there is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
‘Urge your dying ones to say La ilaha illallah.”
Sunan Ibn Majah 1444Sahih (Darussalam)
. "Guide your dying ones" means those whom death has approached, not those who have died and been wrapped, no, those who are on the verge of death. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded this guiding in this authentic hadith. In Sahih Muslim, Imam Muslim narrates in his Sahih with his authentic chain from Abu Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
‘Urge your dying ones to say La ilaha illallah.”
Sunan Ibn Majah 1444Sahih (Darussalam)
. And in Sahih al-Bukhari it is narrated:
A boy from among the Jews used to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This boy fell ill, and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit him while he was in the illness of death. He said to him (may peace and blessings be upon him): "Say: There is no god but Allah."
. The Messenger knew that this boy was on the verge of death
He said to him: "Say: There is no god but Allah." The boy wanted to say it, but his father was above his head.
. You know the Jews and their hostility toward the Islamic call; but, glory be to Allah,
The boy raised his eyes to his father, as if consulting him: "What is your opinion, O father, about what the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is saying?"
. Glory be to Allah, this is a verification of the saying of Allah the Exalted regarding the People of the Book, among whom are the Jews:
know him as they know their own sons
[Al-Baqarah 2:146]
. What did the father say to his son and to the Prophet?
He said: "Obey Abu al-Qasim, obey Abu al-Qasim." Then he said: "There is no god but Allah," and he died. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Praise be to Allah who saved him through me from the Fire."
. "Praise be to Allah who saved him through me from the Fire," meaning he was the cause of his salvation from eternal abode in the Fire, unlike his father. So this is guiding, and it is permissible. As for when the dead person is placed in his grave, this guiding...
