Is it established from some of the Companions that they addressed the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) after his death?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ... It is established from some of the Companions that they addressed the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) after his death, such as Abu Bakr’s saying:
You were well in life and in death, O Messenger of Allah. طبت حيًّا وميِّتًا يا رسول الله
, and Abdullah ibn Umar’s saying, and Fatimah’s saying: "O my father, he answered the One who called him"?

The Shaykh : What did Ibn Umar say?

The questioner :"Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah" Is it correct to address the Messenger with the words some people or preachers use: "My father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah" in the form of a call, without believing that he hears, meaning the Messenger?

The Shaykh : Without a doubt, these narrations you mentioned are established, and such a call, in terms of Arabic style, is common and permissible. The Arabs call out to children, for example, and to lands, and so on, and to the night and day, the sun and the moon, and so on, and nothing results from that. But the matter today is different from that time... let alone the common people. It is not hidden from you that this is associating partners with Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in His worship. When we are lenient with such a call that existed previously, but previously the belief in the oneness of Allah was safe from the filth and dirt of minor shirk, let alone major shirk. The matter is not so today. Therefore, it is not fitting for the preacher to push this door of difficulty upon the common people, because of their distance from understanding the correct tawhid. You just said a word of truth, which is that the one who calls believes that the one being called does not hear. But what is your opinion today regarding the special ones among the Muslims and their scholars? What do they believe about the dead in general? And especially about the dead in particular? Do they believe that they do not hear, or that they do hear? What I know is that they—and we have debated dozens of them—believe that the dead hear, and they have many doubts about that. We are not now in a position to explain that, but perhaps you have seen a book titled: "The Clear Verses in the Non-Hearing of the Dead According to the Hanafi Sadaat" and my introduction to this book in about fifty pages. There I addressed this issue with evidence, and I affirmed that the dead do not hear. Therefore, you know that it is wisdom for a Muslim to speak to people according to the capacity of their minds, as came in Sahih al-Bukhari from a hadith of Ali, stopping at him (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: "Speak to people according to the capacity of their minds. Do you want Allah and His Messenger to be lied about?" So if we call, and our belief is sound, and we call as Abu Bakr and others from the Companions called, but those around us do not understand that this call is not from the category of seeking aid and is not from the category of seeking help, then in that case, we should leave this, and we should address the belief of the people until it is straight according to the Book and the Sunnah. After that, it is possible to use this matter, the best of whose states is that it is permissible. But not everything that is permissible is permissible to do in every occasion. And with this amount, it is sufficient, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Well, we agreed, did we not?

The questioner : O Shaykh Nasser, ... the group is coming from the Eastern Region, and we share with them, meaning, in the questions. If Shaykh Nasser has questions.

The Shaykh : We mentioned it.

The questioner : They will not finish before 'Asr... We benefit, if Allah wills.

The Shaykh : Be patient a little. We mentioned to our brothers that we have an appointment with.

The questioner : We came, first of all, to greet you.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you.

The questioner : And to tell you that we love you for the sake of Allah.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good

The questioner : And it is not the first time we say it, but we repeat this love.

The Shaykh : And may Allah love you.

The questioner : And we also love the good brothers, if Allah wills... in obedience to Allah. And secondly... we came to greet you and to invite you to our home for a light meal.

The Shaykh : May Allah bless you.

The questioner : And also for the benefit, you benefit us and you benefit the brothers with us in the region, in our neighborhood.

The Shaykh : You have goodness and blessing. You benefit the people, if Allah wills.

The questioner : Allah is the Helper. Second: We have a lot of questions, and the time does not allow us. Some are specific and some are general. And what was in our minds were questions, but when we arrived, the questions increased for us now, and... a matter that benefits the Muslims is not bad. So if the brothers have questions, the benefit will be for everyone. We do not deprive them, if Allah wills, of the questions, and we benefit from them.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good

The questioner : And as for us, we renew our request... I tell you our request is that you... set an appointment for us, if Allah wills.

The Shaykh : I spoke with Dr. Zaher recently. Did anything happen?

The questioner : Meaning this evening?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Okay, may Allah keep you.

The questioner : Tonight?

The questioner : Tonight.

The questioner : Praise be to Allah.

The Shaykh : Because I don't have time, I am booked, except for this evening, which is on your account. Hehehe.

The questioner : May Allah bless you, may Allah bless you.

The questioner : If Allah wills... health and well-being.

The questioner : I have a question, O Shaykh... it confused me.

The Shaykh : Please proceed.
