Is the prayer of tasabih recommended? Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) persist in performing it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is the prayer of tasabih recommended, and is it established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) persisted in performing it? Ibn al-Mubarak said that the prayer of tasabih is something one is encouraged to do; it is recommended to make it a habit at all times and not to neglect it. If that is the case, what is its evidence?

The Shaykh : It is not narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he personally performed the prayer of tasabih, but many hadiths came from him encouraging it, such as the hadith of Ibn Abbas that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his uncle al-Abbas:
O Abbas, do I not love you? Do I not give you a gift? Pray four rak'ahs يا عباس ألا أحبك ، ألا أعطيك ، تصلي أربع ركعات
Then he described the well-known prayer, with seventy-five tasbih in every rak'ah. He said, "So perform it once a day. If you cannot, then once a week. If you cannot, then once a month. If you cannot, then once a year. If you do not do that, then once in your lifetime." Then he mentioned its virtue, which I do not remember now. There is an old and long disagreement among the scholars of hadith regarding this hadith, and the stronger position in my view is that the hadith is established by the totality of its chains. It is mentioned in *Mishkat al-Masabih*, which I have extracted from my own work, and in my book *Sahih al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib*. So the hadith, in summary, is established by the totality of its chains. Yes.
