The current awakening based on the methodology of the Book and the Sunnah and the understanding of the Salaf.

The Shaykh : Now, without a doubt, in the Islamic world there is an awakening that did not exist twenty or thirty years ago. I am certain, and I am an old shaykh, a very old man, and I know this; this awakening did not exist before. And associated with this awakening is the phrase "returning to the Book and the Sunnah and the methodology of the righteous Salaf." This call has found acceptance among hundreds of thousands, indeed millions, of Muslims. And all the other sects and other parties have felt that the state, from an ideological standpoint, now belongs to the Salafi call. Therefore, the Salafi call is now being exploited to establish parties in the name of Salafism. And Salafism disavows partisanship. Because what is the meaning of acting in accordance with what the righteous Salaf were upon? It means acting in accordance with the Book and the Sunnah and the concept of the righteous Salaf. Did the scholars of the Salaf live with partisanship? There was not this sectarianism among the scholars of the Salaf that we hinted at earlier, and which today millions of Muslims live with, let alone that it be among them. Adhering to political partisanship is contrary to Islam. Allah the Exalted said:
of those who have divided their religion and become sects, every faction rejoicing in what it has. ولا تكونوا من الذين فرقوا دينهم وكانوا شيعًا كل حزبٍ بما لديهم فرحون
[Ar-Rum 30:32]
. This is the reality of partisanship and grouping. As for applying the term "Salafi" to a certain party, I see it as applying the term "Islamic" to a certain religious innovation. For example, there are Islamic banks, and there are Islamic songs, and there is Islamic socialism. Did you forget it? There are books written on Islamic socialism.

The questioner : And Islamic salons.

The Shaykh : Ah, yes, Islamic salons. So the important thing is that this word is now being exploited to catch people who believe in the Salafi call.
