I graduated from high school, but I cheated in some subjects, and I am now on the verge of university. Am I required to repent for that?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : I graduated from high school, but I cheated in some English subjects, and I am now on the verge of university. What is required of me in this matter? Is repentance required in a case like this?

The Shaykh : Yes, you must repent to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and not return to such a thing. This is because cheating in an exam in any subject is considered cheating, as the word itself indicates. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Whoever cheats, he is not one of us. مَنْ غش فليس منا
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1315Sahih (Darussalam)
So you must repent to Allah and enter university now with repentance, and continue to avoid cheating. If Allah decrees for you a university degree without cheating, then Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) accepts repentance from His servants and forgives sins.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
