The expansions of al-Masjid al-Haram: Do they have the same reward as al-Masjid al-Haram?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Yes.
Al-Huwaini: Regarding prayer in al-Masjid al-Haram and the fact that it is not equal to prayer in the rest of Makkah, regarding the expansions that have been added to al-Masjid al-Haram, do they have the same ruling as the original mosque, even if they cover large parts of Makkah?

The Shaykh : Yes, the ruling for these additions is the same as the ruling for the mosque to which they are added, whether it is the Makkah mosque or the Prophet’s Mosque. Any addition made to either of them has the same ruling as the mosque itself. As we know, the Prophet’s Mosque was much smaller than it is now. It is reported in some narrations from 'Umar ibn al-Khattab that if this mosque—meaning the Prophet’s Mosque—were extended to Sana'a, it would have the ruling of the mosque.
