The Mosque Library: Is It Considered Part of the Mosque?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of fatwa number ( 19080 )
Q 1: Is the mosque library considered part of the mosque, given that it is a branch of it? And is the mosque courtyard considered part of the mosque, meaning: that the rulings of the mosque apply to it, such as praying two rak'ahs and the prohibition of selling in it and the like?
A 1: Whatever is within the mosque's enclosure is part of the mosque and has the ruling of the mosque. Therefore, the mosque courtyard is part of the mosque, and the mosque library is part of the mosque, provided that each is within the mosque's enclosure. However, it is not permissible for anyone to pray in them and leave praying with the imam in congregation; rather, it is obligatory for him to pray with the congregation in the rows behind the imam. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
