The questioner : This questioner, Abu 'Abdullah, says in the first question: If a person sees something he likes, should he say "What Allah willed, Blessed and Exalted is He," or "What Allah willed, Blessed and Exalted is He, there is no power except with Allah," or "What Allah willed, Blessed and Exalted is He," and are all of these correct?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
And why did you, when you entered your garden, not say, 'What Allah willed [has occurred]; there is no power except in Allah '? وَلَولا إِذ دَخَلتَ جَنَّتَكَ قُلتَ ما شاءَ اللَّهُ لا قُوَّةَ إِلّا بِاللَّهِ
[Al-Kahf 18:39]
This is if he sees the thing in his wealth. If he sees it in something else, let him say "May Allah bless it" or a similar phrase. And if he sees something he likes among the matters of this world, let him say "Here I am, for life is the life of the Hereafter", as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say. He would say "Here I am" as a response to you, and then he would say "Life is the life of the Hereafter" in order to settle his heart on the fact that this world, however it may be, is transient, and there is no true life in it; rather, true life is only in the Hereafter. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
