If a man is sentenced to life imprisonment, is he required to appoint a proxy for Hajj?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A man sentenced to life imprisonment

The Shaykh: Allah is the Greatest!

The questioner : Is it permissible for him to appoint another person as his proxy for Hajj? The second... some...

The Shaykh : I understood the question. This has two cases. The first case is whether, before he was sentenced to life imprisonment, his turn had already passed while he was able to perform Hajj, but he did not perform it, or not. If it is the latter, then it is very clear that it is permissible for him. But if it is the former, meaning he was able to perform Hajj but did not, and now he wants to make up for what he neglected during his freedom and ability, then he may appoint a person as his proxy in a legally valid proxy arrangement, and this is clearly permissible.

The questioner : Clear.

The Shaykh : Okay, otherwise.
