Explanation of the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas: (Regarding the takbir after the prayer)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is your explanation of the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas in al-Bukhari regarding the takbir after the prayer? Does it indicate that every person who prays says "Allahu Akbar" in a slightly loud voice after the prayer? And is this specific to the obligatory prayer, or does it apply to both the obligatory and voluntary prayers?

The Shaykh : The hadith, of course, is reported regarding the obligatory prayer. It has two narrations: one with the wording of takbir and one with the wording of dhikr. Ibn 'Abbas said: "We knew the completion of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer by the raising of the voice with dhikr." In another narration, it is with takbir. Dhikr is broader than takbir, so takbir is a part of dhikr. It is well known that there are many dhikrs established in the authentic Sunnah, either by which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to remember Allah, or by which he commanded some of his Companions to remember Him. Takbir is a part of this dhikr. It is established in the Sunnah that it is not permissible to raise the voice with dhikr because of the disturbance that results from it.
