The questioner : Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings and His forgiveness.

The questioner : How are you?

The Shaykh : I thank Allah for you, how are you?

The questioner : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

The Shaykh : I hope you are well.

The questioner : Very well, if Allah wills.

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah.

The questioner : Praise be to Allah, the first question.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : The text says:
Indeed, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has assigned to His believing servant two angels who record his deeds. When he dies, the two angels say: He has died. Do you permit us to ascend to the sky? He says: Allah the Exalted says: My sky is full of My angels who glorify Me. They say: Do you permit us to reside on the earth? Allah says: My earth is full of My creation who glorify Me. They say: Then where shall we reside? He says: Go to the grave of My servant and glorify Me, praise Me, say Allahu Akbar, say La ilaha illa Allah, and record that for My servant until the Day of Resurrection.

The Shaykh : As long as you are silent and I am like you.

The questioner : We took this hadith from the abridged version of Minhaj al-Qasidin, so I do not know; it seems they were silent about the hadith, they did not put anything under it, so we would like to know what it is supposed to be.

The Shaykh : Who is the author of the abridged version?

The questioner : Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi, with the verification of Shu'ayb al-Arna'ut and his brother; it seems they knew that, if Allah wills, nothing good has been verified, but they were silent about this one.

The Shaykh : And the book is in front of you?

The questioner : I will bring it.

The Shaykh : Bring it.

The questioner : If Allah wills.

The questioner : Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace.

The questioner : Where should I read to you from?

The Shaykh : First, give me the page number.

The questioner : Page 388.

The Shaykh : Does the hadith have a number?

The questioner : No, without numbers.

The Shaykh : Okay.

The questioner : It begins with the wording: from Anas ibn Malik.

The Shaykh : Before Anas, what is there?

The questioner : There are two paragraphs before it.

The Shaykh : I don't want to say; tell me the first word before Anas.

The questioner : The first word before Anas is "from."

The Shaykh : And before that?

The questioner : There is nothing.

The Shaykh : That won't do, there is nothing, may Allah guide you; as long as there are two paragraphs, how can there be nothing!

The questioner : I think there is no connection between them.

The Shaykh : It doesn't matter to you, my brother; it doesn't tell me what I intend. I am asking you: before "from," what is there?

The questioner : I will read to you the paragraph before it; it is short.

The Shaykh : Okay, read.

The questioner : And it has been narrated that the two angels assigned to the servant appear to him at death.

The Shaykh : Okay.

The questioner : If he was righteous, they praised him and said: May Allah reward you with good. And if he was with them in evil, they said: May Allah not reward you with good. And of course, the verification below says that Ibn Abi al-Dunya narrated it from Wahil ibn al-Ward as a report. What is meant, okay, what does "as a report" mean?

The Shaykh : It means he said: It was reported to me thus.

The questioner : Yes, without verification, meaning.

The Shaykh : Yes, and then?

The questioner : Then a paragraph comes from him, after which it says: from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has assigned to His believing servant two angels who record his deeds. When he dies...

The Shaykh : Wait a moment, from Anas ibn Malik?

The questioner : (May Allah be pleased with him), he said.

The Shaykh : He said, and then?

The questioner : The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said.

The Shaykh : And after that?

The questioner
Indeed, Allah has assigned to His believing servant two angels who record his deeds.
with you, you

The Shaykh
Indeed, Allah has assigned to His believing servant two angels.
then

The questioner :
who record his deeds.

The Shaykh : Read now quickly.

The questioner :
When he dies, when he dies, they say: He has died. Do you permit us to ascend to the sky? He says: Allah the Exalted says: My sky is full of My angels who glorify Me. They say: Do you permit us to reside on the earth? My earth is full of My creation who glorify Me. They say: Then where shall we reside? He says: Go to the grave of My servant and glorify Me, praise Me, say Allahu Akbar, say La ilaha illa Allah, and record that for My servant until the Day of Resurrection.
.

The Shaykh : Yes, and after that?

The questioner : And after that, it is written: and in the two Sahihs...

The Shaykh : Ah, but did they comment on something?!

The questioner : They did not comment on anything in the paragraph, but we are used to this paragraph meaning it is authentic; I just want to make sure.

The Shaykh : How do you know the paragraph is authentic?

The questioner : The one you just read in front of you, since he did not put any comment on it in the footnote.

The Shaykh :
Indeed, Allah has assigned...

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : How do you know that this is authentic?

The questioner : Because he was silent about it.

The Shaykh : May Allah guide you and them.

The questioner : Amen.

The Shaykh : This hadith cannot be authentic, but from a scholarly perspective, it is not permissible for us to give you the answer until after review, and you will review it with me, if Allah wills, on another night.

The questioner : If Allah wills, put it in your notes.

The Shaykh : I have recorded it for myself. Bring the next one.
