A lady (woman) suffering from joint pain who prays while sitting: is it obligatory for her to place something in front of her to prostrate on, or what should she do?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This is a questioner for the program who mentions and says that she is a lady suffering from joint pain and prays while sitting. So, is it obligatory for her in such a situation, in the case of prostration, to place something in front of her to prostrate on, or what should she do in the case of prostration?

The Shaykh : First, I do not see that the word "lady" should be used for a woman, because this is a newly coined term that came to us from the Westerners who deify women and give them a rank above the rank that Allah has assigned to them. Rather, one should say "woman," "female," "girl," or the like. These are the terms that came in the Book and the Sunnah, and it is not permissible for us to deviate from what came in the Book and the Sunnah, especially when this word implies deifying the woman and placing her above her station. As for her question?

The questioner : She says that she suffers from joint pain and prays while sitting.

The Shaykh : As for her question about the pain in her joints and that she cannot stand, we say that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) issued a ruling for 'Imran ibn Husayn and said to him:
offer prayer in standing condition; if you are unable to do so, then in sitting condition: if you are then at your side صل قائما فإن لم تستطع فقاعدا فإن لم تستطع فعلى جنب
Sunan Abi Dawud 952Sahih (Al-Albani)
Then she indicates the bowing while sitting on her heels. Then, if she can prostrate, she prostrates; otherwise, she indicates with a gesture greater than the indication for bowing. It is not from the Sunnah to place a cushion to prostrate on; rather, this is closer to being disliked, because it is from excessive strictness and rigor in the religion of Allah. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he said:
The excessive ones have perished, the excessive ones have perished, the excessive ones have perished. هلك المتنطعون هلك المتنطعون هلك المتنطعون
Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
