Is there an expiation for a shirk oath, and is saying "by your protection" or "by my life" considered a shirk oath?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is there an expiation for a shirk oath, and is saying "by your protection" or "by my life" considered a shirk oath?

The Shaykh : There is no expiation for a shirk oath. That is, if a person says "by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)," "by the Ka'bah," "by the sun," "by the moon," "by the night," "by the day," "by the master," or the like, all of this is shirk (associating partners with Allah) due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
He who swears by anyone or anything other than Allah, has indeed committed an act of Kufr or Shirk من حلف بغير الله فقد كفر أو أشرك
Riyad as-Salihin 1711
. It is a forbidden oath in which there is nothing, meaning there is no expiation, but there is sin, because Allah the Exalted does not forgive shirk. Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يَغفِرُ أَن يُشرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغفِرُ ما دونَ ذلِكَ لِمَن يَشاءُ
[An-Nisa 4:48]
The apparent meaning of this noble verse is that shirk is not forgiven, even if it is minor. Although there is disagreement among scholars as to whether minor shirk is forgiven or not, its perpetrator will not remain in the Fire eternally, even if he is punished.
As for saying "by your protection," it is not an oath, because the intended meaning of "protection" is a covenant, as if he said, "I am under your covenant" or the like.
As for "by my life," there is no harm in it either. It has come in the Sunnah, in the speech of the Companions, and in the speech of the scholars. It is not an oath. An oath is when one formulates the speech in the form of an oath, and its forms are three: the letter waw, the letter ba, and the letter ta, and "by Allah," "by Allah," "by Allah." Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh, and may Allah bless you and your knowledge, and benefit Islam and the Muslims through you.
O dear brothers and listeners, he has answered your questions.
