Explanation of the author's statement from the book al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : By the evidence of the following story of 'A'ishah "And it is that she bought a cushion with images on it, so when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw it, he stood at the door and did not enter, and I recognized the displeasure on his face. She said, 'I said, O Messenger of Allah, I repent to Allah and to His Messenger. What have I committed?'" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said
What is the meaning of this cushion? ما بال هذه النمرقة؟
Muwatta Malik 54:8
I said "I bought it for you to sit on and use as a pillow" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said
The makers of these images إن أصحاب هذه الصور
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5362Sahih (Darussalam)
Also here, the demonstrative pronoun refers to non-three-dimensional images,
Indeed, the makers of these images will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to them, "Bring to life what you have created" إن أصحاب هذه الصور يُعذّبون يوم القيامة فيقال لهم أحيوا ما خلقتم
Sahih Ibn Hibban 47:296
... So we should not be deceived by some words we hear after we have heard this hadith. We should not be deceived by one who says there is no harm if the image is on a pillow, or if the image is on a carpet, because it is humiliated and not respected. No, this hadith explicitly states that this image which is on the cushion and can be leaned upon, and ... naturally, with this leaning, is among the images that prevent the angels from entering. So it is not permissible for the Muslim home to have visible images; this is the least that can be said. Whatever the image is, we must strive with all effort to avoid displaying images in our homes, because this display prevents the angels from entering. And this means something very serious, because the common people say that if the angels are present, the devils flee, and this is something that seems to be derived from this hadith. If the angels do not enter the house, then who enters it? If the space is left for these devils, they enter this house. So this is a completely opposite situation. If you adopt the lawful means to attract the angels of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to your home, you have adopted a very strong cause for keeping the devils away from your house. And the opposite is completely the opposite: if you are lax and contradict the Shari'ah and adopt the causes for the angels not entering your house, you have opened the way for the devils to enter it. These are legal realities that a person can never know by his intellect alone. And from here we know the importance of the Shari'ah, especially from the Sunnah, which explains to us subtle matters that are hidden even from Muslims, except those who are illuminated by the light of Prophethood and the Message.
