What is the position of deeds in faith?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : There is no god but Allah, there is no god but Allah, please go ahead.

The questioner : Indeed, all praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own souls and from the badness of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomsoever He misguides, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. As for what follows: Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, the honorable...The Shaykh : ...the distinguished scholar, the critic, the hadith scholar, Muhammad...

The Shaykh : Leave it, leave it, do not use these words.

The questioner : ...Nasir al-Din al-Albani. Undoubtedly, as Abu Qilabah said, "The scholars are like the stars by which one is guided and the banners by which one follows. When they are hidden, people become confused, and when they are left, people go astray." Indeed, the youth today are in great confusion regarding the issues of faith and disbelief. Undoubtedly, these issues are of the utmost importance, and it is incumbent upon everyone to take care to verify them, for Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) has tied happiness and misery to them. The disagreement in these issues was the first disagreement that occurred in this Ummah, between the Companions and the Khawarij, as is not hidden from your honor. Therefore, it is obligatory upon us to raise some questions, perhaps Allah will benefit us with the answers from your honor. We begin with the first question, which is about the issues of faith. Undoubtedly, faith according to the people of the Sunnah, as some scholars express it, consists of five "nuns": belief in the heart, speech with the tongue, and action with the limbs. It increases with obedience to the Most Merciful and decreases with obedience to Satan. In other words, faith is speech and action: the speech of the heart and the tongue, and the action of the heart is the limbs. A man is not a believer until he believes with his heart and testifies with his tongue, and he is not thereby a believer until he performs the actions of the heart, such as love, fear, magnification, and reverence for the Lord (Blessed and Exalted is He), and similar actions of the heart. The question, honorable...The Shaykh : ...what is the position of deeds in faith? Is it a condition for perfection or a condition for validity? I hope you will clarify this issue, and may Allah bless you.
