The discussion of the athar of Ibn 'Abbas that the Qur'an was revealed in one lump to the House of Glory in the lowest heaven.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And among the famous examples of this is the athar of Ibn 'Abbas that the Qur'an was revealed in one lump to the House of Glory in the lowest heaven, and then it was revealed in portions. This is extremely unlikely that Ibn 'Abbas would say such a statement regarding a matter of the unseen based merely on opinion. What informed him that there is a house in the lowest heaven called the House of Glory? This is the first point. And secondly, what informed him that the Qur'an was revealed from the Preserved Tablet in one lump to the House of Glory in the lowest heaven, and then it was revealed in portions according to events? It is extremely unlikely that this was merely independent legal reasoning, but rather it was based on a report from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
