Al-Halabi : Praise be to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and companions, and whoever follows them. As for what follows, this is another session from the sessions of our Shaykh, the scholar Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani, may Allah keep him steadfast, in which he answers questions posed to him by the brotherThe Shaykh : Abdullah ibn Saleh al-Abaylan. These questions contain some doubts or issues raised by some malicious people, may Allah reform them, casting doubt on our Shaykh's methodology, his knowledge, and his fatwas. May Allah guide everyone to what He loves and is pleased with, and reform our souls and hearts for what leads to His guidance. He is the One capable of that, and may Allah send peace and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and companions.
Abu Layla : Who are you talking about, Shaykh?

The Shaykh : The Shaykh : Al-Sa'di.
Abu Layla : Abd al-Rahman al-Sa'di, Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Yes, that is right. This man was a merchant; I have forgotten his name, but a man introduced him to me. This man had been sent here when the incident occurred between the Jews and the Arab armies. The outcome, unfortunately, was as you know. This man's name was Fahd al-Mariq. He was the commander of the army or the Saudi battalion—we cannot say army, but the Saudi battalion that was fighting in Palestine under the banner of the Syrian state or government. When the matter ended in a way that was not pleasing, unfortunately, this man brought his battalion to Damascus because he had been working under the Syrian banner. Then I was surprised to find him coming to me while I was in my shop. You know that my hours
and the truth is that this shop was a gathering place for our Salafi brothers, though they were few in number. Many discussions took place on various occasions between me and the visitors, whether they were acquaintances or customers. This man came while I was speaking on a jurisprudential or hadith issue—I no longer remember which one now. After he greeted me and sat down, he joined the conversation. I was surprised because he was wearing the Syrian military uniform; he was an officer. After the conversation ended and the man I was speaking with left, he introduced himself as the commander of the Saudi battalion and said that he was about to return to Riyadh.

The questioner : Peace be upon you

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Welcome. He wanted to take a guide with them. The story is long, and we have no need for it. Indeed, I went to Riyadh by land for the first time, and we encountered difficulties, but we have no need for that story. This man introduced me to that merchant, who had a shop in an area called "al-Hariqah" in our part of Syria. The French, when the Syrians revolted against them, shelled it with cannons, and it burned down. Then they rebuilt it, and this Saudi merchant brother took a shop there as a center for his trade. This Fahd introduced him to me one day. He called me on the phone—I had a phone in the shop, thank Allah—and said,The Shaykh : Al-Sa'di is here, and he wants to meet you and get to know you. So I hurried to the man and got to know him, and I was very pleased to meet him because I learned from him more than I know from the other Najdis. We know about them, thank Allah, the basic word, as they say today, tawhid (the oneness of Allah), but from the other side, as you know, it is different. But this man combined both matters. So our meeting was very pleasing to both sides, and I truly found in him knowledge and guidance, and so on. Therefore, I have been pleased with him since I met him, and from his well-known interpretation that is circulated today, the methodology to which we call people was clear to him. Yes, that is right.

The questioner : The Shaykh : May Allah have mercy on him. He was greatly influenced byThe Shaykh : his Shaykh Ibrahim ibn Jasser and byThe Shaykh : the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim.

The Shaykh : Yes, without a doubt. I say that every Salafi on the face of the earth owes a debt of gratitude to these twoThe Shaykh : men, without a doubt. And we ask Allah to reward them with the best reward.
Abu Layla : Just a moment.
