What is the jurisprudential understanding of the hadith of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Misfortune is in a woman, a house, and a horse)?

The questioner : The hadith of Ibn 'Umar is in "al-Sahihayn" (the two authentic collections). The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Evil omen is in the women, the house and the horse. الشُّؤم في المرأة والدار والفرس
Sahih al-Bukhari 5093
; so what is the jurisprudential understanding of this hadith?

The Shaykh : This hadith came in two wordings; this is one of them:
Misfortune الشُّؤم
, and it came in a wording with this meaning:
Misfortune is only إنما الشُّؤم
, but the correct wording is:
If misfortune were in anything, it would be in لو كان الشُّؤم في شيء لكان في
these three types,
If misfortune were لو كان الشُّؤم
this is what should be relied upon in narrating this hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family); because the other wordings, in addition to being weaker in narration, contradict the explicit texts that say: there is no misfortune in Islam, there is no taking an omen as a bad sign in Islam. The Messenger (peace be upon him) prohibited taking an omen as a bad sign; so how would he approve it and affirm its existence in a house, a woman, and a horse? No, this is anomalous in terms of narration, and the preserved, authentic narration is:
If misfortune were in anything, it would be in a woman, a house, and a horse لو كان الشُّؤم في شيء لَكانَ في المرأة والدار والفرس
.
This is the answer to this question.
