The Shaykh mentioned some of the deviations of Abd al-Rahman Abd al-Khalik.

The Shaykh : Ah, yes, glory be to Allah. And what is his relationship with Abd al-Rahman?

The questioner : It is good, very good. In the past, he used to criticize Abd al-Rahman, but now he has come to understand Abd al-Rahman. He has some understanding of the fatwas that Abd al-Rahman issues, though Abu Yusuf does not agree with all of them.

The Shaykh : This is a natural thing. That is why I asked you, because although Abd al-Rahman is one of our brothers and our students, as we mentioned, I believe the political aspect overtook him, and I think it caused him to deviate somewhat from the Salafi line. This is not an easy matter, especially when he writes in a letter—do you know its name?—that it is necessary for a Muslim to commit some forbidden acts in this age. Remember this statement of his.

The questioner : No, by Allah, I do not remember. Which letter?

The Shaykh : Do you remember this statement?

Another questioner : Yes, the Muslims and political work.

The Shaykh : Yes, have you not read this letter?

The questioner : No, by Allah, I have not read it.

The Shaykh : Even though he has a useful letter on the prohibition of installment sales. Yes, glory be to Allah, infallibility belongs to no one after the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). As for Laish?

The questioner : Abu Yusuf’s (may Allah have mercy on him) argument, perhaps this was at the beginning. But during his last visit... it was an attempt to reconcile the brothers who were in dispute.

The Shaykh : And so my question also contained a reservation. I asked Abu Muhammad whether the sharpness still remains in him, or whether the days have polished it away.

The questioner : The days have polished it away.

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah.

The questioner : We used to be surprised by this polishing that the days did.

The Shaykh : Glory be to Allah.

The questioner: It is an amazing thing.

The Shaykh : May Allah have mercy on him.

The questioner : He was of benefit to us, by Allah, and I also have sharpness. I mentioned to you in the car how I carry this stick. I have a sharpness, a kind of energy. I like to deal with the one I see is not upon the Sunnah; I deal with him, and if words do not benefit him once or twice...

The Shaykh : He swallows it... - laughs -

The questioner : I like to hit him and hurt him with a beating, but after that, if he does not respond without a beating, I leave him alone. Even if I am tired of him, Abu Yusuf warned me and said to me, "Come, I used to be sharp, and you appear to be sharp like me."

The Shaykh-laughs- Birds fall according to their shapes.

The questioner : So he said to me, "I hope for you in the future, if Allah wills, with your practice of this methodology, that you will attain calmness."

The Shaykh : What Allah willed.

The questioner : And your affairs will be polished little by little. He advised me and said, "Beware of boycotting these people, even though they have a deviation and are not following the correct methodology." He said to me, "I fear that Allah may afflict you as He afflicted Yusuf, because you are a caller to Allah and you understand. So if you leave these people, even if they are not on the path, you must be patient with them."

The Shaykh : There is no god but Allah.

The questioner : And you remain with them, enjoining good and forbidding evil, perhaps Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will guide them and they will truly become [righteous]. This is a great wisdom I learned from him. I realized that these people, whom I was in a hurry to see mature, was a mistake and recklessness, so they became, by the will of Allah, [as they are now], just as Abu Yusuf advised me.

The Shaykh : This is the truth, without doubt, may Allah have mercy on him. And if a caller to Allah is not like that, his harm may be greater than his benefit. Yes, I remember a story about one of the Salafi shaykhs there, and how few they were at that time. He was gray-haired, and I was a young man. He had a very strange sharpness. Because of his sharpness, the following story happened. Originally, I did not know him, but something occurred between me and one of the students of knowledge...

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : May Allah bless you in it.
