The Refutation of the Asha'irah and the Maturidiyyah in Their Claim: That the Speech of Allah is Internal Speech.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
It is not as the Asha'irah and the Maturidiyyah claim, that the Speech of Allah, and the Noble Qur'an is part of it, is internal speech. They mean that it is not verbal speech; they mean that it is not audible speech. This hadith invalidates their claim and affirms the saying of Allah to Musa:
so listen to what is revealed [to you]. (14) Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.
[Taha 20:13-14]
,
so listen to what is revealed
[Taha 20:13]
The meaning is that our Lord (Mighty and Majestic), when He spoke to Musa, as He said in the Noble Qur'an:
And Allah spoke to Moses directly
, Musa was hearing the Speech of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). As for interpreting the Divine Speech as internal speech, that is a denial of the attributes of the Noble Qur'an and of the hadiths of the Messenger (peace be upon him), including this hadith for which one of the Companions traveled a long distance to narrate it from the Companion who heard it from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Therefore, a Muslim should not doubt the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace be upon him), let alone that it is not permissible for him to doubt the people of hadith, even if he is from the common people, by saying: "Did you see the Messenger? Did you see the Messenger?" We did not see the Messenger, but we were conveyed the Speech of the Messenger (peace be upon him) through the trustworthy scholars. And in the Noble Qur'an, the Exalted said:
And this Qur'an has been revealed to me
Why?
that I may warn you thereby and whomever it reaches
[Al-An'am 6:19]
"I warn you, you who hear my recitation of the Qur'an directly, and I warn whoever it is conveyed to as well." The warning is established for both the one who heard the Qur'an from him (peace be upon him) directly and the one who heard it from the one who heard it from the Messenger (peace be upon him), and so on. Therefore, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There is no man from this Ummah (the Muslim community), whether a Jew or a Christian, who hears about me and then does not believe in me, except that he will enter the Fire
He did not say "I met him and heard from him," no,
Heard of me سمع بي
meaning he heard of his (peace be upon him) call, the call to truth, the call to Islam,
Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam
[Ali 'Imran 3:19]
then he disbelieved and denied this call, so he is in the Fire, abiding therein forever. Here, look.
