Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He says: "And His Speech is like His Life" His Speech is like His Life, "That is not *** within His power, but is necessary for the Most Merciful"
The life of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is necessary, and the author's statement:
"That is not within His power" because the impossible thing is not subject to power. Is it possible for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to be alive and dead? No, death is impossible for Him, impossible. Rather, He is the Living who does not die. Okay. The speech says: Speech is like life. It is not possible for Him not to be a Speaker, because it is a necessary attribute. It is not subject to His will. It is not that if He wills, He speaks, and if He wills, He does not speak. If you say that if He wills, He becomes alive, and if He wills, He becomes dead, then say that if He wills, He speaks, and if He wills, He does not speak. So look, listen to the author's words. He says:
"And His Speech is like His Life, that is not *** within His power"
Meaning: He does not have the power to speak if He wills and not speak if He wills, just as He does not have the power to be alive and to be dead. He is alive with a life that is necessary for Him. He is a Speaker with speech that is necessary for Him, because it is a meaning. Did you understand? Good, now?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : Did you understand the doctrine of the Asha'irah that speech is not heard, nor is it letters, nor is it sound, but it is a meaning by which He is described? Just as He is alive, we say He is a Speaker. Okay, what is His speech? They said: His speech is the meaning that subsists in Himself. It is not what is heard. Okay, is this what Muhammad heard? And what Musa heard? They said: This is an expression of the speech of Allah. An expression that Allah created to express what is in the self of Allah, to express what is in His self. Clear? For example: If you place written speech and put a mirror, the written speech appears in the mirror. They say: This meaning that subsists in the self of Allah is imprinted in the air, imprinted in any place, and then it is heard. As for it being speech heard from Allah Himself, that is not the case.
