What is the difference between the devotional command and the command whose meaning is understood?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Otherwise, it is not for us to impose our will upon the Wise Lawgiver, who is the Lord of the worlds, and say, for example, why did He make the Fajr prayer two rak'ahs, the Maghrib prayer three rak'ahs, and the remaining prayers four, four, four? And why did He make some of them secret and some loud, and in some He combined the loud and the secret? We say that the Lord of the worlds burdens His servants with what He wills, and it is not assumed of every human being that he can encompass all things with knowledge, right or wrong?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : And I think you agree with me in what some of the Europeans themselves say, "The more we increase in knowledge, the more we increase in knowing our ignorance," right? This is a scientific fact.
So, from this, the Imam al-Zamakhshari (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
"What is there for the dust and for the sciences, but that he strives to learn that he does not know."
If the matter is so, then the Lord of the worlds, who encompasses all things with knowledge, if He informs us through the tongue of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the Infallible, that this is pure and this is impure, it is not for us to overstep the Lord of the worlds and say why is this pure and why is this impure? Rather, it is obligatory upon us immediately to submit in full submission that there is a difference between this which is pure by the Shari'ah and that which is impure by the Shari'ah, whether we know this difference or we do not know this difference. The matter of the Muslim with his Lord is like the matter of any person with his doctor. If his doctor rules that a certain finger must be amputated, he does not have the right to say to him, why? Because he is ignorant in relation to him. I am just asking you, can you understand every person about every ailment you ask him about from a medical perspective?

The questioner : No, I don't understand it all, but I give him the idea that he can understand?
The Shaykh: Yes, but you cannot understand everything.

The questioner : Of course, at the level of his comprehension, he understands the thing that

The Shaykh : You understood, but you cannot understand everything, just as we are talking about now. We can explain to you why smoking is forbidden because it is harmful, but there may be something else we do not know why it is so. We have no answer except this: the Lord of the worlds has ruled. Therefore, the Muslim must establish for himself that he is truly a believer, because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says:
But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission. فلا وربك لا يؤمنون حتى يحكمونك فيما شجر بينهم ثم لا يجدوا في أنفسهم حرجاً مما قضيت ويسلموا تسليما
[An-Nisa 4:65]
Today, any law placed on the face of the earth, and indeed any constitution placed, must be relative. The constitution is reasonable for Zayd among people, and not reasonable for Bakr among people? Because minds vary, right or wrong?

The questioner : Correct.

The Shaykh : But the ruling of the Lord of the worlds is never weighed by this scale. Therefore, regarding the issue of why urine is impure and why tears are not impure? The answer, first: because the Shari'ah said this is impure and this is pure. Second: it is a tangible, concrete reality. The taste differs, the color differs, the smell differs. When a person's eyes water, it is not like when urine hits him, or for example, when excrement hits his clothes, and the foul smell is apparent, and so on. So this difference is clear, tangible, to the touch of the hand. So it is not appropriate here to say, why did He rule this as impure and this as pure? As for the previous example I mentioned earlier, why is the Fajr prayer two rak'ahs? We do not know. This is how our Lord loves us to worship Him. So we must submit. As for the issue of urine being impure and tears being pure, this is a fact like the sun in the fourth hour of the day in the difference between them. You, as a chemist, may say, like some of them, "With my mind, I say no, like some of them, because the proportions of the parts present are different."

The questioner : In disagreement.

The Shaykh : Is that not so? From here comes the difference, and this is a completely known chemical matter.
Another student: And then there is a second thing that may be related, which is the method of secretion that you talk about, that tears are from a blind gland that has no channels, no such thing, while that one passes through a million things.

The Shaykh : No problem, but these are hidden things, Doctor. Allah burdens His servants with what they know and what is possible for them to reason and understand. Therefore, among the narrations from some of the Salaf, and he is the Rightly Guided Caliph 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, he said: "Speak to people according to the capacity of their minds. Do you want Allah and His Messenger to be lied about?" Our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) made the religion easy so that people with sound innate dispositions would accept this religion with good acceptance. But sometimes, some scholars issue some rulings based on their independent legal reasoning, and these independent legal reasonings are not acceptable, at least to some people, and may also be not acceptable in the correct ruling of the Shari'ah. But this requires one who knows the rulings of the Shari'ah as stated in the Book of Allah and in the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
