Warning Against Those Who Doubt the Sunnah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, we are setting the Qur'an aside for the moment because it is not a matter of dispute; it is something agreed upon. But regarding the Messenger, if we want to know how his life was, how his character was, how he treated people, how he interacted with women, and so on—everything related to what is called today social, political, and economic life—where do we need to know this from? From the Qur'an?

The questioner : It is from the Sunnah.

The Shaykh : From the Sunnah. So, if we come to those who have struck down the Sunnah, it means we have become more foolish than the disbelievers who deify their great men with a history whose accuracy Allah knows best. They do not have chains of narration like the ones we have. I am in the fourteenth century, and I can tell you: this hadith is authentic, this one is weak, this one is fabricated, this one is false, and so on. This is authentic from 'Umar, and this is not authentic from 'Umar. None of the peoples who have great men have this level of precision at all. Yet, every great man among them has what? A history, a book, and so on. These people forget their own history, which is the funniest and weakest history on the face of the earth, and they come to strike down our history, saying that this did not come in the Qur'an, but rather in the Sunnah. And the Sunnah was not recorded during the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). So, when did you record the Torah? When did you record the Gospel? When did you record communism? Was it not after the death of these people, and so on? Therefore, be on guard, and remain in your faith in Allah and His Messenger. And as your grandson said just now, we want to gain in the end of our lives what we gained in our youth.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : ... A beautiful expression, but remain mindful of it, do you see?

The questioner : If Allah wills.

The Shaykh : And never be influenced by anything other than what you hear, and the matter is as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I have left with you two things; you will not go astray as long as you hold fast to them: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah. They will not separate until they return to me at the Pond. تركت فيكم أمرين ، لن تضلوا ما إن تمسكتم بهما كتاب الله وسنتي ولن يتفرقا حتى يردا عليّ الحوض
