Shaving the beard: If one does not object to Allah with his words, he has objected to Him with his actions.

The Shaykh : ... As for the Muslim, do you imagine—and peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you—that he would say, "Why did my Lord create me male and not female?" You agree with me that it is impossible for a Muslim to say in his heart, at the very least, "Why did our Lord create me male and not female?" Or the reverse: a Muslim woman who truly believes in Allah and His Messenger saying, "Why did He create me female and not male?" I do not think this exists among Muslims, no matter how far they go in their misguidance. But look now: is there not among men one who says, "Why did our Lord create a beard for me?" I answer you: as for saying it with his tongue, as I am saying now, "Why did Allah create a beard for me?" No, they do not say it like that. But be aware: the tongue of reality is more eloquent than the tongue of speech.

The Shaykh : No one ever says, "Why did my Lord create a beard for me? Wouldn't it be better for me if my face were smooth like a woman's, so I would be more beautiful?" No, no one says this. But I say, yes, they say it. How? No one says it, correct? With words, no. But the tongue of reality is more eloquent than the tongue of speech. This young man who is afflicted with shaving the beard: when the weekly festival, Friday, comes, let alone the annual festival, 'Id al-Fitr or 'Id al-Adha, if he wants to adorn himself, what does he do? He shaves his beard. He stands in front of the mirror. If he is a man with some economy or poverty, instead of going to the barber or the one they call a beautician and paying him a dinar or less or more, he stands in front of the mirror, takes the razor, scrapes it, and throws it on the ground. Do you see that he believes this is Allah's creation and that it is good?? I do not believe it. Do you believe it? I do not believe that any Muslim can be satisfied with Allah's (Mighty and Majestic) creation, which made him bearded, and then he comes and throws it on the ground, except in one case: either he is a fool or a madman whose pen has been lifted, or the other, which is perhaps milder but both are bitter: that he is ignorant and does not know the ruling of Islam regarding the beard. If we speak logically, he does not know that this man who stands in front of the mirror on the day of the festival and throws it on the ground is the greatest practical proof that he is not satisfied with Allah's decree and destiny when He created him a bearded man, and that he is like that woman who sees her face in the mirror—what Allah willed, it is beautiful and smooth—but this is not conceivable, because Satan is lying in wait for both groups. "Did He create me bare and smooth with no beard?? No, I want to put a beard on my face like men." Do you believe this happens with women?? Say no, because it has not happened. But the opposite, do you believe it?? Say yes. Why? Because it has happened. Why did this happen and that did not? Because the most beautiful for women is as Allah created them, and the most beautiful for men is as He created them with beards, were it not that Satan is lying in wait for them to create them as He created them. But Satan made a vow since he was cursed and expelled from Allah's mercy. What did he say? He said: . So these men, these young men who are afflicted with shaving the beard—I repeat, and the bitterest of them is bitter—are one of two: either a fool or an ignorant person who does not know. And this is milder than the first, but if he knows and hears this verse where Satan vows against his enemy, man, saying before his Lord, defying the will of Allah and the Shari'ah of Allah: "And I will surely order them to cut off the ears of cattle, and I will surely order them to change the creation of Allah." So the one who changes the creation of Allah and shaves his beard is, without doubt, by the text of the Qur'an, obedient to Satan, and at the same time disobedient to the Most Merciful. And what is the result? He is expelled from the mercy of Allah, just as the accursed Satan was expelled when our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) ordered him to prostrate to Adam, and he said: "Shall I prostrate to one whom You created from clay?" He used his intellect. And now these who are afflicted with shaving their beards, and most Muslims do this, are afflicted with what Satan was afflicted with when he opposed the command of the Most Merciful to prostrate to the first human: "Shall I prostrate to one whom You created from clay?" "Shall I preserve this beard, and this beard is not beautiful?" Do you not believe this? All the afflicted, correct, do not say it with their tongues, but they say it with their actions, and the tongue of reality is more eloquent than the tongue of speech. When he stands in front of the mirror and wants to go meet a minister, and his beard is a bit long, he shaves it. When he wants to celebrate, he shaves it. Allah is the Greatest, when does he grow it?? If he is struck by a calamity, if his father dies or a loved one, etc., he lets his beard grow. The concepts are completely reversed. What Allah (Mighty and Majestic) made an adornment for men has become ugliness for men, so they shave it. And the proof of that is that he is sad now because he has been struck by a calamity, so he declares his calamity by his disobedience to his Lord. He always and forever shaves, so when a sudden calamity like death comes, he lets his beard grow. This is another tongue of reality: that this beard is not grown except during calamities. So you who have been guided by Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and have been spared from beards, it means you are in a calamity, living in the logic of those people. This is truly one of the most cunning and serious things that the Muslim community suffers from in deviating from its religion, whether they know it or not, and the bitterest of them is bitter. And perhaps this is sufficient. It is probably time for prayer, is it not? Let us go, in the name of Allah.
