What is the ruling on the multiplication of political parties, and do they all pour into the same vessel?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our own souls and from the evil of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can mislead, and whomsoever He leaves to mislead, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger.
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
[Ali 'Imran 3:102]
O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
[An-Nisa 4:1]
(70) O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. (71) He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.
[Al-Ahzab 33:70-71]
As for what follows, the best of speech is the speech of Allah, the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and the worst of matters are their innovations. Every innovation is a religious innovation, every religious innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire. And after that: bring it, let us see.
Abu Layla : Please, may Allah honor you.

The questioner : The first question is that some people ask about the multitude of Islamic parties present on the scene, whether they all pour into the same vessel, and what is their legal ruling?

The Shaykh : Unfortunately, the answer is no. The parties existing today, or the groups established on the Islamic land, have multiple methodologies and their systems differ greatly. It is sufficient for you, when you hear the plural of "party" (ahzaab), when you hear the word "parties" and are compelled to ask this question containing this word "parties," it is sufficient for you to observe this word with me to know that this is not in accordance with the methodology of Islam. Our Lord, Mighty and Majestic, said in the Qur'an:
and do not be of those who associate others with Allah (32) [Or] of those who have divided their religion and become sects, every faction rejoicing in what it has.
[Ar-Rum 30:31-32]
And He said in another verse, indicating that the one party that is the successful party and the triumphant party is what I mean by His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He:
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way
[Al-An'am 6:153]
So the parties are many and the paths are many. The first verse is like the other; they meet in condemning the multiplication of parties and the multiplication of paths. In each of them, our Lord, Mighty and Majestic, clarifies with a clarity beyond clarity that the path leading to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is only one path. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) added explanation to that verse and the other verse, as is his custom with many of the verses of his Lord, by saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was one day sitting among his companions in his well-known sitting that indicates his humility. He was sitting on the ground, so he drew a straight line and drew short lines around this straight line. A straight line and on both sides of the straight line, short lines. Then he recited the second verse and said:
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way
[Al-An'am 6:153]
Then he said, while passing his noble finger over the straight line:
This is the path of Allah, and these are paths, and at the head of each of these paths is a devil calling people to it.
As for the other hadith, I think none of you is free from having read it or having it reached your ears repeatedly and often. It is his saying, may the prayers and peace be upon him:
The Jews split into seventy-one sects, and the Christians split into seventy-two sects, and my Ummah will split into seventy-three sects, all of them in the Fire except one.
They said, "Who is it, O Messenger of Allah?" He said:
It is the Jama'ah.
And in the other explanatory narration of the first narration, he said:
It is the one that is upon what I and my Companions are upon.
So this hadith also confirms that salvation is not achieved by splitting up and forming parties, sects, and various paths, but rather by belonging to one path and following one path, namely the path of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). And I think this is a reality that no one who has been given any knowledge, even if it is little, will dispute or argue about, because we have not mentioned anything but the speech of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, or an authentic hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And anything after that is of no value at all, such as His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He:
He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah
[An-Nisa 4:80]
And such as His saying, Mighty and Majestic:
And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.
[An-Nisa 4:59]
So if we have returned to the Book and the Sunnah in answering that question regarding the multiplication of parties and groups, and the Book and the Sunnah are explicit in condemning party formation and in condemning splitting up, then there is no doubt that there remains only one path and only one party, which is the one that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, praised in a well-known verse in the Noble Qur'an:
Unquestionably, the party of Allah - they are the successful.
[Al-Mujadila 58:22]
If the path leading to achieving this party is one, then the methodology must also be one. If the methodologies of those groups or sects or parties multiply, then there is no doubt that the multiplication of these methodologies is a branch of the multiplication of parties and groups. And what is built upon error or misguidance is no doubt itself misguidance. And as was said in the past: "How can the shadow be straight when the stick is crooked?"
