Permissible Departure, as Jihad is Obligatory, But Where, When, and How

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : But we say here that departure is permissible, just as jihad is obligatory. Today, departure is permissible, just as jihad is obligatory. So, are we fighting jihad today? The answer is no. So, if we are not doing what is obligatory, will we do what is permissible? A fortiori. Why do we not fight jihad, which is an obligatory duty upon us? Because we are unable to. So, are we able to depart? Are we able to depart against our rulers, and these Jews are next to us? So, it is necessary to completely distinguish between ruling that a person or persons are disbelievers in the sight of Allah, where the criterion is the heart's or the practical permissibility of disbelief, and whether we have the right to depart against those who have displayed open disbelief. The answer is yes, we have the right to depart, but who departs? The one who fights. Who fights? The one who is able to fight, who prepares the equipment, and who takes the means that we always and forever speak of. So, here, it is not permissible to mix this with that.

The questioner : So, is departure not a legislated method?

The Shaykh : Yes, it is the same.

The Shaykh : Yes, it is so. We are able.
The questioner: May we say, O our Shaykh, may Allah bless you, that open disbelief is like their preventing the establishment of prayer.

The Shaykh : Yes, exactly.

Another questioner : May Allah bless you. May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : But I am rambling. It is not fitting for this to be an excuse that justifies many enthusiastic Muslims who contradict the wisdom that we repeat in many gatherings, which is: "Whoever hastens a matter before its time is tried with its deprivation." This is taken from the hadith
But you are a people who hasten ولكنكم قوم تستعجلون
Therefore, it is not permissible to hasten to do what Allah has made obligatory of jihad before taking the obligatory preparation, whether it is spiritual or material.
