If the deceased did not give charity during his lifetime, is it permissible for his children to give charity on his behalf and consider it ongoing charity?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the name of Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. The question is: If the deceased did not give charity during his lifetime, is it permissible for his children to give charity on behalf of their father and consider it ongoing charity? This is the text of the first question.

The Shaykh : And when you say "is it permissible," do you mean anything else by "is it permissible"?

The questioner : Permissibility, I mean, and considering it in the context of the hadith...

The Shaykh : What are you tiring yourself over? The word "covered it," I mean, or do I not mean it? It is a lecture. The questioner : Yes, meaning.

The Shaykh : May Allah forgive you, and may Allah reward you with good.

The questioner : And beware of that.

The Shaykh : Of course, the answer is that it is permissible. But I think that is not what the question is about. The answer is that it is permissible for a son to give ongoing charity or non-ongoing charity on behalf of his father, but ongoing charity is better and more beneficial. It is permissible.

The questioner : I mean, the hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah إذا مات ابن آدم انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاث صدقة جارية ...
Riyad as-Salihin 1383
So here, since he did it in his life before his death, is this also considered as if he did it in his life? This is what I meant, or I mean...

The Shaykh : This is also what I intended.

The questioner : That is it, may Allah bless you.

The Shaykh : But let me clarify something for you to solidify the answer—and peace and mercy of Allah be upon you. First, we have a general rule that a son is part of his father's earnings. And we have specific hadiths that it is permissible for a son to give charity on behalf of his father. For example, "So-and-so died and did not leave a bequest, so should I give charity, or is it permissible for me to give charity on her behalf?" He said, "Yes." A son is part of his father's earnings. And Allah says:
And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives وان ليس للإنسان إلا ما سعى
[An-Najm 53:39]
So a son is part of his father's effort. Therefore, whatever good deeds he does are recorded for him.
