What is the ruling on the validity of the prayer of tasbih?

The questioner : Regarding the prayer of tasbih, we know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught al-Abbas this prayer, but he did not perform it. It is also said that there is no report from the Companions that they performed it in congregation, and that there is no evidence that they performed it in congregation after the eleven rak'ahs in Ramadan. So how can we respond to those who do this?

The Shaykh : This matter is clearer. What is it?

The questioner : I mean, performing the prayer in congregation after the eleven rak'ahs, considering that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform it, and it is not reported that the Companions performed it in congregation. So how can we perform it in congregation and make du'a for it?

The Shaykh : I did not know that you perform it in congregation. Did you perform it in congregation?

The questioner : Yes, we performed it more than once, Shaykh. We performed it with Abu Malik, our Shaykh.

The Shaykh : On your honor.

The questioner : Were you not with us?

The Shaykh : I seek refuge in Allah. The congregational prayer of tasbih is prescribed as the voluntary prayers are performed individually.

The questioner : Each person individually?

The Shaykh : And in the house.

The questioner : I mean, our Shaykh, you did not perform it with us?

The Shaykh : I seek forgiveness from Allah.
