The questioner: Until the issue is resolved, we wanted to, and I said I do not know, so I said since they are going to the Shaykh, we will ask our teacher. The hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):The Shaykh : So we ask our teacher. The hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
On the Day of Resurrection, people will be brought who have deeds like the mountains of Tihama of good, then it will be taken away from them, because they used to, when they were alone with the sacred things of Allah, transgress them.
.
First, the authenticity of the hadith, and second, how do all these good deeds disappear just because of these sins, while remembering the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
All the sins of my followers will be forgiven except those of the Mujahirin
Sahih al-Bukhari 6069
, and these people were alone, they did not commit them openly?

The Shaykh: Repeat the hadith that is the subject of the issue for me.
Al-Halabi :
People from my Ummah will be brought who have good deeds and works like the mountains of Tihama, but they will be taken away or it will be taken away from them. Because they used to, when they were alone with the sacred things of Allah, transgress them.
.

The Shaykh: Yes, the subject of the issue needs study. Where did you see this hadith?
Al-Halabi: My brother asked me. And I do not know, my question now is what is its authenticity, then the resolution of the issue. As for the hadith, its authenticity is in my mind. But I do not know if it is so or not?

The Shaykh: Yes, this is authentic:
I certainly know people of my nation who will come on the Day of Resurrection with good deeds like the mountains of Tihamah, but Allah will make them like scattered dust.” Thawban said: “O Messenger of Allah, describe them to us and tell us more, so that we will not become of them unknowingly.” He said: “They are your brothers and from your race, worshipping at night as you do, but they will be people who, when they are alone, transgress the sacred limits of Allah.”
Sunan Ibn Majah 4245Hasan (Darussalam)
.
It seems that "being alone with the prohibitions of Allah" does not mean in secret. Rather, it means that when the opportunity presented itself to them, they transgressed the prohibitions. So "being alone" does not mean in secret.

The questioner : What is its meaning?

The Shaykh: It is like the saying, "The stage is clear for you, so paint and adorn yourself."
Al-Halabi: Well, Shaykh, does this imply that all the good deeds go away? And the principle is:
And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.
[Az-Zalzalah 99:8]
.

The Shaykh: Now you have brought up a doubt other than that one. It seems that one has just disappeared.
Al-Halabi: It may have disappeared, Shaykh, perhaps.

The Shaykh : Well, praise be to Allah.
Al-Halabi: Because the issue is originally one, glory be to Allah. Please, Shaykh.

The Shaykh: But the second issue is the matter:
(7) So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, (8) And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see
[Az-Zalzalah 99:7-8]
Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds
[Hud 11:114]
, is that not so?
Al-Halabi : Of course.

The Shaykh: But if the bad deeds are more than the good deeds, or worse or greater, then the situation is completely reversed. These people, when they were alone with the prohibitions of Allah, transgressed them. It does not mean they were alone once, but this is their habit, their affair, and their constant practice always. Therefore, these prohibitions overwhelm those good deeds. Allah knows best, this is the intended meaning.
Al-Halabi : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And you, if Allah wills.
