Continuation of the Shaykh's remarks on his meeting with al-Nabhanī.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Among the things I mentioned to him, I said to him, "Professor, you mentioned that I wrote an article and sent it to you regarding your prohibition of renting out land. To this day, I do not know if I was mistaken. Yet, you have not clarified my error to me. If I was mistaken, I gained nothing from you. If I was correct, you actually gained. But I did not know that. Whether I was mistaken or correct, I should have benefited from you, because when you tell me I erred in such-and-such, I retract it. When you tell me I was correct in what I wrote, I praise my Lord for that, I am encouraged, and I proceed with what I am doing. So, to this day—and years have passed since then, because this was the first time he came to Damascus and stayed at a school called the Deir Yassin School—our friend Abu Awfa, who had a strong connection with the group and also had a connection with me after he graduated from al-Azhar and benefited greatly, praise be to Allah, came to me one day and said, "The Tahrir Party has published a statement prohibiting the renting out of land. What is your opinion on it?" I said to him, "I will study it." After I studied it, he asked me, "What is your opinion?" I said to him, "By Allah, it contains many errors." He said to me, "What do you think about writing a response to it?" I said to him, "By Allah, I am not eager to do so, because I know the Tahrir Party is a fanatical party. If one of their members disagrees with the party on even a minor detail, they tell him, 'Get out, get out.' He kept encouraging and motivating me, saying there are good young men I know, and so on. If the truth becomes clear to them, they will be convinced. Please, go ahead. In any case, I wrote this letter and responded to them in it, clarifying that renting out land for a third, a quarter, or similar shares is sharecropping, meaning it is permissible. So, I referred to this response and said to him, 'To this day, I do not know what your position is. Therefore, I want to benefit from you as you want to benefit from me. And this only happens through a meeting.' He said to me, 'I cannot do it now. Excuse me, and the first opportunity that allows me, I will meet with you.' This meeting took place after my insistence and after 'Abd al-Rahman al-Maliki asked me to bring him together withThe Shaykh : , and the days passed and came. When the news came from Mahmud al-Ishtinbuli and we met there in the mosque face to face, he had no news that al-Albani would be with the group. So he brought up that excuse, and after that, I did not meet with him at all. Yes, and this is, in reality, among the misfortunes of partisanship and bias, and of not submitting to the rulings of the Shari'ah. Now, we want to leave at ten o'clock, if Allah wills. We have about a quarter of an hour left.
