How to perform the closing salam and respond to it.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Once again, peace be upon you all.
The child: And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings and His forgiveness.

The Shaykh : What Allah willed, how are you?
The child: Praise be to Allah.

The Shaykh : What is your name?
The child: My name is Ahmad Abd al-Haqq.

The questioner : Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : What Allah willed, and upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. May Allah cause him to grow up well, and may Allah make his parents’ eyes pleased with him. This child reminds me of an error we have always heard from the elders, which is a new error, a misconception of a new correctness. That is, the addition of “and His forgiveness” in the salam is only in the response, not in the initiation. In other words, when the one initiating the salam begins, he ends with “and His blessings,” saying: “Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings,” and he does not add here
and His forgivenessومغفرته
But when the responder is greeted with this complete and perfect salam, and he wants his response to be the best, then he adds
and His forgivenessومغفرته
So, if it is the initiation of the salam, nothing is added to “Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.” But as a response, “and His forgiveness” is added to the one who offered this complete salam. This is what this child, may Allah bless him, reminded me to remind the attendees of. Now, what do you have? Please go ahead.
