What is your opinion regarding some of the youth in Palestine who leave what is called the (Intifada) today and travel?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In Palestine, there is an Intifada, and some of the Muslim youth leave Palestine for Europe under the pretext of seeking knowledge. Is that permissible? I mean, they leave the Intifada and the conditions in Palestine and go to Europe to study, perhaps because the people there have a great need for them?

The Shaykh : My brother, the Intifada—do not hold me to this, you may not see my opinion—this Intifada was not prepared for. It is like many of the revolutions that took place in the Hejaz in the Noble City of Makkah, in Egypt, and in Syria, and their outcome for the Muslims was corruption and weakness. So these Intifadas that we hear about, and finally in Palestine, were not prepared with the necessary conditions, as I mentioned earlier. Neither the spiritual and moral conditions nor the material conditions were in place. Therefore, if leaving is fleeing, then this is, of course, not good. But if leaving is as those before us left in the path of seeking knowledge, and their intentions, as we said, were to fulfill a collective obligation, then I see no harm in that. Because I see that as long as the Muslim states do not support it with personnel or weapons, the Intifada cannot succeed. And in that case, preserving these numbers of youth whose blood is shed and who go to the ground in vain for the day that is required is better than wasting them pointlessly like this. For every Jew killed, dozens of Muslims are killed, and hundreds are imprisoned, if not thousands, as you know. Therefore, I am not enthusiastic about such an Intifada, for what I mentioned earlier: that it arose without any preparation for it, and it is merely a revolution among the revolutions. And it is regrettable that it is supported with words rather than actions.
