Advice to the people in general and to merchants in particular to gain knowledge of the religion.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Therefore, I advise every Muslim to first gain knowledge of the Shari'ah, and if he intends to trade, he should be a jurist in buying and selling. This is because this type of knowledge is an individual obligation. Seeking knowledge in general is a collective obligation, but some sciences become individual obligations. For example, a poor man who has no money is not required to know the rulings of zakah. But if he becomes wealthy, it becomes obligatory for him to know the rulings of zakah. A poor man is not required to perform Hajj, but if Hajj becomes obligatory upon him, it becomes an individual obligation for him to learn how to perform Hajj, and so on. Likewise, when a man intends to trade, he must learn the rulings related to buying and selling, lest he fall into selling what Allah the Mighty and Majestic has forbidden.
