The questioner : Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And peace be upon you.

The questioner : The Shaykh : Muhammad?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : How are you, Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, I am well.

The questioner: Good, if Allah wills.

The Shaykh : May Allah make you well.

The questioner : We can take a little of your time.

The Shaykh : Just a little, because it is now eight o’clock. Please, go ahead.

The questioner : If a man is teaching a female relative who is not a mahram (a relative one may not marry) to him, but there is someone present who prevents fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), such as her mother or one of her family members, is this permissible?

The Shaykh : If there is no male mahram (a relative one may not marry) present, it is not permissible. First, and second, she must be in complete, lawful hijab (the covering prescribed for women). Today, this is extremely rare. Therefore, we do not advise this kind of teaching.

The questioner : Yes, indeed.
