Advice for this one who has embraced Islam on how to face the trials he encounters

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Look, my brother Sa'd, the difference is between the Shari'ah and the reality of those who hold fast to Islam today. As we mentioned earlier, it is your duty to get to know the correct Islam. A man from among the polytheists came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and he said to him:
Aslam said, "I find myself reluctant." He said, "Aslam, even if it is with reluctance." أسلم قال إني أجد نفسي كارها قال أسلم و لو على كره
Where is this man! He has come to embrace Islam, go and come back, and so on. And, praise be to Allah, there was agreement...
Abu Malik: The non-agreement of our Lord is that He knows that this person is not a Muslim... It is a strange matter.

The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest. This is ignorance of Islam.

The questioner : There is a matter, brother, here. Please, a moment ago, to guide his parents... The situation I am going to talk about now, of course, is not a criticism of any person at all, but I was surprised. We are in an Islamic country, and whatever door I knock on, despite the persecutions I am subjected to, and despite the fact that a seizure was placed on what I own—my car and my shop—and I threw myself...The Shaykh : Yunes knows, going from hotel to hotel, Allah knows how my situation is. I did not find, of course, any concerned party that would stand by my side. On the contrary, the whole talk revolved around one person, meaning... We are in the nineties, in a time like this, meaning what compelled you to do this thing when you do not need it...

The Shaykh : I seek refuge in Allah.

The questioner : We can say there is no Islam, of course a person cannot assert such matters with certainty, but I reached the point where I went to the Minister of Awqaf, I entered upon the Chief Judge, I consulted more than one source regarding my situation, I stood at the door of the Prime Minister's house and waited for him. When he came out, I sat and spoke with him: why am I being fought? Why is this situation happening to me? And I was sent by a doctor from the University of Jordan to the President of the Senate, the House of Representatives. Unfortunately, of course, one feels that he has committed a crime...

The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar.

The questioner : This is what I find.

The Shaykh : My brother, can we know from whom the seizure you referred to was issued?

The questioner : I was deprived of my family and everything, of course. I have nothing. If you want to go back and take what you want, go to the priest, let him sprinkle water on your head, and return to your religion. That is the talk.

The Shaykh : Okay, excuse me, is the car registered in your name?

The questioner : We had the inheritance as a room where everything is placed, and if you need it, you take it out...

The Shaykh : Meaning you do not have anything in your name?

The questioner: No.

Another questioner : In the first place, you do not get the inheritance because Islam does not give it to you, as there is no inheritance between you and your parents...

The Shaykh : There is no inheritance now...

Another questioner : After he embraced Islam...

The questioner : I am not greedy for inheritance or for anything, the matter is... I am a university graduate in Business Administration, in addition to speaking Italian, Greek, English, and Arabic—four languages. So when I knocked on the door of the Muslims in the country, expecting to find a certain status for me, like getting employed, for example, working... getting a job, finding shelter, finding a certain status. Unfortunately, regarding everything I mentioned, they just said go back to so-and-so, go see so-and-so. The matter was such that I even heard from the same person, and I do not want to mention names, that there is no status designated for people like you; you are a special case...

Another questioner : Yes, of course...

The Shaykh : No, not of course. May Allah guide you...

Another questioner : There is a reality... that they do not think about calling people to Islam. They have relieved themselves of that. The proof of this is the statement of the Chief Judge that the priest comes... that it has become a crime for a man from the People of the Book to believe among the Muslim community. They consider themselves aggressive in this and that they have approached the People of the Book in that, and this affects them and fills their hearts with enmity and fills the enmity, because they have relieved themselves of calling to Islam, and Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, will ask them about this...

The questioner : But there is a matter here, there is something customary. The situation like mine, surely any person, specifically if his family needs him, will be subjected to persecutions and provocations and problems. There must be a party that protects him, a party that helps him...
Abu Malik: Let me tell you something. Your situation is a very special one. Look, you are from one of the distinguished families in the country, and they have status and prominence. When one from the Jabir family, or the Tuwan family, or the Haddadin family embraces Islam, it is not like when an obscure, unknown person embraces Islam. This shakes the family from two sides: first, from the social aspect, and from the religious aspect. From the social aspect, of course, prominence means that you do not care for your family, your sons, and your daughters; these are delinquents. From the religious aspect, because this has prominence, the reputation that one who believes from the House of Jabir is a very bad reputation for...

The Shaykh : It causes an earthquake...
Abu Malik: It causes an earthquake. And this, my Shaykh, I have a previous experience with one from the House of Tuwan. A young man from the House of Tuwan embraced Islam in Abu Dhabi and came from there sick, a poor soul, and he embraced Islam well, meaning his Islam became good. It has been ten or twelve years now. This is like the brother's situation...

Another questioner : He has a brother who also embraced Islam and returned to Christianity...

The questioner : Not a brother, a cousin... I heard that a girl from Karak was killed about two months ago... There is no party, there is no Islamic country that can protect us. I studied and graduated from a theology school of a church in Bethlehem, and I was supposed to become a priest after my study of the four Gospels... I started frequenting the College of Sharia, and I had other convictions regarding the Qur'an and the Islamic religion. So a person has a conviction; we have no choice and no camel, but why does one, when he comes to take such a step...
Abu Malik: On the contrary, you... are a loser...

The questioner : Excuse me, I am not talking about material things...
Abu Malik: ... If you measure it by a material measure, allow me, I do not say that you are measuring by a material measure, I tell you if you measured by a material measure, you would come out as a loser, like this one from the House of Tuwan. You know him, do you not know Sulayman? You do not know him. I have known him for five or six years. The last time, his family put a knife on his neck and shot at him, of course, and he nearly died, but they put the knife on his neck for what? He had checks taken out, signed on checks for loans, and these checks, of course, were taken to court when they learned of his Islam and wanted to imprison him. Of course, I spoke with the judge and said to him, postpone the matter until we arrange this amount for him. The amount was one thousand and eight hundred dinars, and he is a poor soul, also distressed. It is true, he has very heavy shadows of the tragedies that happen to these people. When he comes, he does not find anyone to protect him, truly, and he does not find anyone to take refuge with, and he does not find a place to shelter him, so he really has...

The questioner : The brother here... calm down. If I, as one who has come or resorted to Islam as a solution... and I do not find a Muslim to remind me, should I not go and calm my family?
Abu Malik: I want to tell you something. First, as that brother told you, there is no place for people like you among the Muslims. First, this is a harsh and severe word and lacking in manners, meaning a lack of manners to say this word. By Allah, my brother, look, people like us, the weak, by Allah, our chests and our backs are for you, and we will stand with you, by the permission of Allah the Exalted, meaning with all our effort, the thing that is possible, we will not fall short in it at all. And you will find, if Allah wills, from your brothers, meaning from people like us, the weak, you will find one who stands by you with sincerity and devotion, seeking no reward or gratitude for it. And you may have touched upon this session, which may be the first time you sit in a session like this with people who are students, and among them and with them, and at their head is a Shaykh from the great Shaykhs of Islam whom our Lord has blessed us with in this time. The Shaykh : Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani.

The Shaykh: Excuse me.
Abu Malik: I consider this a karamah (a miracle granted to a righteous person) for you that you came to this mosque withThe Shaykh : Yunes, may Allah reward him with good, and you met these brothers in this house. So we consider you our brothers, and the thing we have, we will share with you, if Allah wills, and we will not be stingy with it. And you will find, if Allah wills, what pleases you from us. But if you find what displeases you from others, it means you do not gain...

The Shaykh :
and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another فلا تزر وازرة وزر أخرى
[Al-An'am 6:164]
!
Abu Malik:
and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another فلا تزر وازرة وزر أخرى
[Al-An'am 6:164]
This is it...

The Shaykh : I have a word to say on this occasion. This word has two parts: one part concerns what I have seen of the lack of cooperation from the society in which you live, as a Muslim society, and the second part concerns you. We said at the beginning of our talk, before we knew your problem after your Islam, when you mentioned his saying (peace and blessings be upon him)
You will follow the wrong ways, of your predecessors لتتبعنّ سنن من قبلكم ...
Sahih al-Bukhari 3456
and that the Muslims split up and became sects and parties, and so on. Now, unfortunately, you have found from many of the Muslims and officials you have met that they have no sympathy for you. This is certainly a regrettable thing, but there is no surprise in it. Why? Because we hinted in our previous talk that Islam is not being applied as it is required and as it is supposed to be by every Muslim, especially by those in authority. Therefore, do not be alarmed by the matter regarding these people, for you did not believe in Allah and His Messenger except following the truth. As for this aspect, I tell you that the Muslim side today, and let us call it the official Muslim reality, its position toward Muslims like you today is the position of the enemies of Islam in the past toward the weak ones who used to embrace Islam. You probably read in your general studies how the first Muslims were when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent to all people as a bringer of good news and a warner, and he was in Makkah. What did he and the weak Muslims who embraced Islam face from the chiefs of Quraysh and the disbelievers of Quraysh in terms of pressure, beating, killing, and the like? You know this. So what was the position of these oppressed Muslims on earth? It is exactly what your position should be now: that you remember that you did not truly believe in Allah and His Messenger for wealth, or status, or position, or, or, and so on. So do not worry about these people, for you did not embrace Islam for their sake, but for the sake of Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). So now, you have only two things to do, and there is no third: First, that you be patient, just as the resolute messengers before you and their followers from the sincere believers were patient. You must resolve to this patience until Allah brings you relief. The second thing is that you take the means, the lawful means that provide you with an exit from the material hardship you have fallen into because of your declaration. Is this clear, if Allah wills? Therefore,
do not let yourself perish over them in regret لا تذهب نفسك عليهم حسرات
[Fatir 35:8]
you did not believe for their sake; you believed in Allah and His Messenger, and Allah the Mighty and Majestic is with you, and Allah the Mighty and Majestic says in the Noble Qur'an
And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways و الذين جاهدوا فينا لنهدينهم سبلنا
[Al-'Ankabut 29:69]
And the matter is as you heard from Professor Abu Malik, that we are weak, we will be with you within the limits of our weakness and our inability and our poverty as well
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity و لا يكلف الله نفسا إلا وسعها
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
... .
Abu Malik : And it is strength, O our Shaykh ... .

The Shaykh : We ask Allah to grant us His strength and support from Him. And I tell you, after all these reviews, do not humiliate yourself. Do not ever knock on the door of an official department. Rather, strengthen your ties with individuals who are truly Muslim brothers, and especially those who call to the Book and the Sunnah, not to partisanship, not to sectarianism, and not to wretched Sufism. Is this clear? This is my advice to you, and I hope that Allah is with you.

Another questioner :
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out (3) And will provide for him from where he does not expect. و من يتق الله يجعل له مخرجا و يرزقه من حيث لا يحتسب
[At-Talaq 65:2-3]
So be assured that if you are mindful of Allah the Mighty and Majestic, Allah will make an exit for you and will provide for you. But you must know that there must be trials
(2) Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried? (3) But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars. أحسب الناس أن يتركوا أن يقولوا آمنا و هم لا يفتنون و لقد فتنا الذين من قبلهم فليعلمن الله الذين صدقوا و ليعلمن الكاذبين
[Al-'Ankabut 29:2-3]
And so, out of the wisdom of Allah the Mighty and Majestic, as our professor and Shaykh (may Allah preserve him) indicated, the Muslims in the early Makkah period were killed, tortured, and oppressed with the utmost oppression until they complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about what they faced from Quraysh. Khubayb ibn al-Urat (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "We complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was leaning on a cloak of his in the shade of the Ka'bah, and we had faced severe hardship from the polytheists. We said, 'O Messenger of Allah, will you not seek help for us? Will you not supplicate to Allah for us?' He was leaning, so he sat up and then said,
Indeed, those who were before you used to comb one of them with iron combs between his flesh and his bone, and a saw would be brought to cut him in two, yet that did not turn him away from his religion. By Allah, Allah will not let this matter be completed until a traveler goes from Sana'a to Hadramawt fearing nothing but Allah and the wolf for his sheep, but you are in a hurry.
... So the goal is that if a believer believes in the truth, he must be patient and find sweetness in this harm if it befalls him in the path of Allah the Mighty and Majestic. If you resolve your heart to find sweetness in this harm and know that it is because of faith, then you have truly known and tasted the taste of faith. And then, even if you were cut to pieces,
The Shaykh : it would not harm you, and you would find the sweetness of faith because you believed with certainty. But if the faith is not like that, then it would be, may Allah forbid, like one who worships Allah on the edge of a cliff
If he is touched by good, he is reassured by it; but if he is struck by trial, he turns on his face [to the other direction]. He has lost [this] world and the Hereafter فإن أصابه خير اطمأن به و إن أصابته فتنة انقلب على عقبيه خسر الدنيا و الآخرة
[Al-Hajj 22:11]
Some people are in this state. Allah wants to test and distinguish the bad from the good. This is regarding your personal matter, which concerns you. As for what concerns the Muslim society, that is another obligation upon them, which he indicatedThe Shaykh : If the Muslim society does not fulfill its obligation toward you, do not be saddened by it and do not be harmed by it. Allah the Mighty and Majestic will make an exit for you. If He tests you, be patient, for this is to raise your rank and your status with Him, the Exalted and Majestic. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) says
Those who were the best in the pre-lslamic period of ignorance will be the best in Islam provided they comprehend the religious knowledge. خيارهم في الجاهلية خيارهم في الإسلام إذا فقهوا
Sahih al-Bukhari 3353
So if you understand and comprehend your obligation and hold fast to the truth, you will have a great rank and status with Allah the Mighty and Majestic. This is what I wanted to point out. And this does not exempt me from my first word, in which I said that it is your obligation to call your parents to the truth, despite the harm you face from them, because Allah has made it obligatory upon you to treat them with kindness. You must take the means to treat them with kindness and be gentle in calling them. If you face harm in this path, be patient. As for arguing with them in the best manner, it is obligatory upon you to the extent of your ability. This requires discussion, and I advise you to read about it, especially "The Correct Answer for Whoever Changed the Religion of Christianity" by the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. And let your argument with them be that 'Isa is a servant of Allah and His Messenger, like the other prophets. Allah created Adam from clay, and they believe that Allah created Adam from clay. If Adam was created from clay, who is his father? They do not say that he has a father. And who is his mother? They do not say that he has a mother. If Adam has no father and no mother, and he was created, and they believe that he is a created being, and Allah created him from clay, and he has no father and no mother, why did they not say that Adam is the son of Allah? And why did they not say that Hawwa is the daughter of Allah? They came and said that 'Isa is the son of Allah because he was created from a female without a male. They believe that Hawwa was created from Adam, and she naturally has no father, and we do not say she has a mother, but rather she is created from Adam. So the first thing Allah created was a male without a father or mother, then He created a female from a male, then He created the rest of people from a female and a male. And there remained a type that Allah the Mighty and Majestic did not create, though He is capable of creating all things, which is to create a male from a female. So the wisdom of Allah was to create 'Isa from a female without a male. Thus, he was most like Adam in that he had no father and no mother, and most like Hawwa, who was from Adam, so he was from a female without a male. He differed from the rest of people, and he is a sign among the signs of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He. But he is a servant of Allah and His Messenger. So why did they not say about Adam that he is the son of Allah? Why did they not say about Hawwa that she is the daughter of Allah, and they came and said about 'Isa that he is the son of Allah because he was created from a female without a male?
They have no rational evidence for this, let alone scriptural evidence. Thus, they are here stumbling and contradictory. Their contradiction in this point alone reveals their misguidance in that matter and that they are upon nothing. Just as it became clear to them that 'Isa (Jesus) was promised, and the promises remain in the Torah, even in its distorted form. Read about this in the modern books, meaning what Ahmad Deedat and others have written regarding the mention of the promise by the name of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and that the mention of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) remains in the distorted Torah and Gospel. Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:
And [recall, O People of the Scripture], when Allah took the covenant of the prophets, [saying], "Whatever I give you of the Scripture and wisdom and then there comes to you a messenger confirming what is with you, you [must] believe in him and support him." [Allah] said, "Have you acknowledged and taken upon that My commitment?" They said, "We have acknowledged it." He said, "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses."
[Ali 'Imran 3:81]
Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “Allah did not send a prophet, and this is in Sahih al-Bukhari, except that He took from him a covenant and a pledge: if Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is sent and he is alive, he will surely believe in him and support him. Every prophet, from 'Isa (peace be upon him) and those before him (peace and blessings be upon them all), Allah took from them a covenant that if Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is sent to them while they are alive, they will believe in him, support him, and be among his followers. Likewise, Allah took from them a covenant and a pledge that they would take a covenant and pledge from their people that if Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is sent and they are alive, they will believe in him and support him. So the prophets, in their persons, must be followers of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) if he is sent while they are alive, and likewise their people must be followers and supporters of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) if he is sent. Without that, they have no path to Paradise. And 'Isa (peace be upon him), whose sign was that Allah raised him to Himself, and this is what led the Christians astray, will descend and come down to the earth and rule by the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family and companions). This is perhaps also part of the clarification of the completion of the covenant that Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) took from the prophets, and especially from 'Isa (peace be upon him), who was promised with Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He will also return, and Allah will send him down to the earth to rule by what Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family and companions) ruled, and he will break the cross and kill the pig. I mean, this is in brief, and the matter requires more detail, but perhaps Allah will benefit you with these words. And we ask Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to forgive us and you, and to gather us under the banner of the Master of the Messengers.

Another questioner : This topic recurs in the story of the Islam of Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) and how he suffered from difficulties and hardships, and at the beginning of the path, of course, when he was sold as a slave. He had met or gone with that bishop, and that bishop was wicked; he called people to charity and encouraged them in it, but it was all for himself, until he hoarded seven jars of gold and silver...

The Shaykh : The case of most priests and monks...

Another questioner : Yes, and he was at the beginning of the path; there was still a shock in which Salman (may Allah be pleased with him and grant him satisfaction) would fall back and leave the religion. And as reported in al-Bukhari, he moved from...

The Shaykh : "from one master to another."

Another questioner : Yes, from one master to another, and he moved from one country to another and suffered what he suffered, many things he suffered, glory be to Allah, until his affair was completed. So we ask Allah to magnify your reward and recompense...

The Shaykh : This... goodness, if Allah wills, will benefit you in your life. And as we said, it does not prevent you from seeking livelihood through lawful means that are befitting the dignity of the Muslim. And your Lord says:
(155) And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, (156) Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return." (157) Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided.
[Al-Baqarah 2:155-157]
So we command you, or rather I seek forgiveness from Allah for commanding, but we remind you to be patient with the harshness you were met with, and you had hoped for something other than what you were shocked by just now. So you must be patient and gird yourself with it until you are among those who are patient:
(156) Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return." (157) Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided. الذين إذا أصابتهم مصيبة قالوا إنا لله و إنا إليه راجعون أولئك عليهم صلوات من ربهم و رحمة و أولئك هم المهتدون
[Al-Baqarah 2:156-157]
And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
We, the prophets, are the most severely tested, the most excellent being the most tested. And the believer is tested according to the measure of his faith. نحن معاشر الأنبياء أشد ابتلاء الأمثل فالأمثل , و المؤمن يبتلى على قدر دينه
So I hope that you will reflect with me on this passage from the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
And the believer is tested according to the measure of his faith. و المؤمن يبتلى على قدر دينه
Whenever the trial of the believer truly intensifies, his patience increases, and that is a sign of the strength of his faith. And this is what we hope for you, that you be strong in faith to gird yourself with patience against anything you see that you do not approve of. Please proceed.

Another questioner : Also, I point out that since you have studied theology, you are now more capable of clarifying the falsity of the beliefs of that people and the contradictions they have, and the contradictions in the Gospels that require study in Islam as well, a careful, conscious, and enlightened study, and then you compare, clarifying the truth and clarifying the misguidance and falsehood that is with that people. This would be a breach in one of the breaches, and you call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction. And perhaps that will also be a cause, and this is not what concerns me, but perhaps it will be one of the causes that you can write some books in which you defend Islam and clarify the truth, and it will be a cause that brings you some money that benefits you in this world. Even if this is not the intention, but defending the religion of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is the primary goal. Considering that you have studied theology, we, or Muslims now, are in need of your efforts to clarify the misguidance of these people.

Another questioner : The brother, at the beginning of his speech, mentioned that he is now being fought by his family, and his money was taken, and the rug was pulled from under his feet. So I say it is not him alone; we, the Muslim youth, originally, from father to grandfather, when we commit ourselves and hold fast to our religion, we find fighting from some of our family...

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you.

Another questioner : I mean, he is not alone in this area; he is also with us, he joined us in this area. So this is from the perspective of it being a consolation and comfort for him.

The questioner : ... my family, I expected from them what I spoke about, that I was surprised after that when I reviewed with the officials for some matters...

Another questioner : These officials, a fortiori, if the family is refusing this thing, then a fortiori a strange Muslim person like you and him. So I was reviewing with the Waqf (Endowments) department a short time ago, and I said to some people, if he had reviewed with the Ministry of Arts or the Ministry of Tourism, he would have found more respect and appreciation than what he found in the Ministry of Waqf. So this is normal in this society...

Another questioner : This is my cousin who wears a cap; he committed himself recently, he is a bank employee and is now seeking to find work other than the bank work, and we ask Allah (Exalted is He) to facilitate that for him. He is now being fought. Yes, what happened to you? You don't attend weddings?! You are crazy now. Ask him, this is being fought...
Abu Malik: First, why did he leave the bank?!

Another questioner : How do you leave the bank, I mean...
Abu Malik: Praise be to Allah for the blessing of this religion, and that it is from Allah (Exalted and Majestic) that He illuminates his insight, and our Lord will reveal his chest and remove this darkness that was in him. By what cause? By this religion. So this is a blessing... Praise be to Allah, Muslims, youth and elders, women and girls, who believe in this religion with true faith and leave this world and let it go, this is a great blessing...

Another questioner : So do not let Shaytan enter your chest and do not let him blow this weakness into your chest. No, you must resolve your self, if all the people were at war with you, that you be upon your faith. And by that, you know the taste of faith, and you are reassured that you do not want to abandon your faith no matter what harm befalls you in this world. That if you were thrown into the Fire, you would not abandon faith. Then you know the taste of faith and the sweetness of faith and taste its flavor...
Abu Layla : Allow me, my Shaykh... I hesitate to speak, but I found that it is necessary to speak... So a question for the brother: did you have friends from the Muslims?

The questioner: Yes.
Abu Layla : So, the difference between us and them was that, Shaykh, we used to be like them. We had Christian friends, and we would attend Christmas with them, go with them, and come back, and so on. However, glory be to Allah, there was not that much of a difference; this one was a Muslim and this one was a Christian. I was, in fact, a clothing merchant, and I really sold the best and worst models from Italy and France. My shop was very famous, so much so that even the loose women of the town would come to buy from me. The shop was very successful in worldly terms; it did good business. Then, suddenly, Allah the Mighty and Majestic guided me, and I got to know our Shaykh, may Allah preserve him. I was afflicted with debts to the banks, so I asked the Shaykh. My first meeting with the Shaykh, may Allah preserve him and reward him for us and for all the Muslims, was when I asked him a question about banking transactions. He narrated to me two hadiths from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): the first was the one our Shaykh mentioned about the man who was walking in the desert and heard a voice in the sky, and the second was the one about the man who was not an economist. Based on this, I issued a ruling for you that it is not permissible to deal with banks. So, glory be to Allah, I turned away and started dealing with merchants. I would call the merchants and say, "Whoever has a single dinar with me, do not cash the check at the bank; cash it with me." Look how I transitioned from the forbidden in buying and selling—skirts, dresses, trousers, jeans, and the customers I had—into another world. Believe me, my brother, after I was spending tens of dinars daily, days passed where I would buy bread and eat it dry because of its hardness, and I and my children would eat it at home, after I used to eat kebabs daily. Why? Because I moved from one stage to another. The customers came and found no models, so I started bringing in lawful goods. I had goods worth thousands of dinars, but the goods were killing each other in sales. I was patient, patient, until finally I destroyed some of it. I would consult the Shaykh about destroying the skirts, the cosmetics, the perfumes, and so on. And praise be to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, because I was patient, and praise be to Allah, I returned, and now the shop is considered one of the most famous commercial shops for selling the lawful jilbab and Islamic lawful clothing, and we do not approach the forbidden, by the grace of Allah the Mighty and Majestic. So, a person must be patient, meaning...

The Shaykh : But this is the crux of the matter: patience.
Abu Layla : Yes, exactly.

The Shaykh
Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account." و إنما يوفى الصابرون أجرهم بغير حساب
[Az-Zumar 39:10]
Has the time come? Glory be to You, O Allah, and with Your praise. I testify that there is no deity but You. I seek Your forgiveness and I repent to You.
Abu Layla : May Allah reward you with good, Shaykh, and may our Lord preserve you and extend your life.
