The Shaykh’s advice to this young Christian who has embraced Islam to call his family to Islam.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : On this occasion, the occasion of this brother’s Islam, I would like you to make it clear to him that he should not be content with the matter of his Islam alone, for he has an obligation, and that is to save his parents first from shirk (associating partners with Allah), and this is a right they have over him. The other matter is to save his brothers from shirk, and then to argue with them in the best manner regarding their belief in 'Isa (peace be upon him) and that he is the son of Allah, and to clarify what pertains to this topic and the status of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and that everyone who does not believe in him will be among the people of the Fire, fuel for Hell. I want there to be no argument between him and these people where he adopts, so to speak, the weapon of silence and remains silent; rather, he must begin by calling these people to the faith. They will not leave him alone; rather, they will launch a fierce campaign against him because of his faith and his Islam. So he should not take a defensive stance, but rather take an offensive stance against their shirk-based and false beliefs, and he should arm himself with the beliefs of faith. I want you to make this clear to him and detail it for him, perhaps Allah will benefit him through it.

The Shaykh : By Allah, I have nothing in mind at this moment in this regard except that I add my voice to yours that this is obligatory upon him, due to his saying (peace and blessings be upon him)
None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself. لا يؤمن أحدكم حتى يحب لأخيه ما يحب لنفسه
Sahih al-Bukhari 13
But I observe something, and that is that the one who wants to perform this obligation should be well-versed in his knowledge of Islam so that he can argue with his relatives and kin in a way that establishes the proof against them. So I do not know if the brother is capable of that. If he is, then this is the obligation. But if he is, as we understood earlier, new to Islam, then we tell him: look after yourself first, and then, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the well-known hadith
Begin with yourself, then with those next to you. ابدأ بنفسك ثم بمن يليك
... Some of the printed lines say: "And since this decision was issued by Sa'd Yusuf 'Abd Allah Sa'd, the aforementioned, and he was in the state considered valid by the Shari'ah before the aforementioned witnesses, he was informed that he has become 'informed'—I have an observation on this expression, but the other, more severe observation is in the conclusion, where it says he was informed that he has become one of the servants of Allah, the Muslims, and that it is upon him to perform the religious obligations and Islamic rites. There is nothing wrong with that, of course, but what do you think of his saying: 'and that was after the approval of His Eminence the Chief Judge...'"
Abu Malik : This is a major sin in itself.

Another questioner : A full month and I was hesitating, the Chief Judge was not agreeing... As we understood fundamentally that the religion of Islam is a religion of tolerance... But it was very difficult for him, and when... on the road there was snow those days... The Chief Judge was Muhammad Mahilani, and he told me in his own words that tomorrow I will go up to your priest and he will be dancing in the Diwan... Then one of the brothers in the department said that the Christians were complaining about him, some of the Christian brothers in Karak were making a case against him, so because of this job, the situation was not easy at all...
Abu Malik : They did not understand this because it is a mistake... The Chief Judge’s duty is only to issue this paper...

Another questioner : ... The Chief Judge, no. But he sends a letter of approval.
Abu Malik : I know this, may Allah bless you, I mean this, any judge, I mean the department in its capacity as the Shari'ah department, I mean the Shari'ah court, its duty is to issue it, but does he have the power to know what is in the hearts of the servants? Perhaps one is a Muslim, born of Muslim parents, and says La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasul Allah, and he is a disbeliever. And perhaps one is a disbeliever who wanted to enter Islam and his Islam was good, so he preceded that first one.
