The Shaykh : This hadith is exactly like the hadith of the Rightly Guided Caliphs mentioned in the Sunan, narrated by al-'Arba' ibn Sariyah (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: to the end of the hadith. The point of this hadith is like the point of his (peace be upon him) answer to the previous question, where he exhorted his Ummah, through the persons of his Companions, to hold fast to his Sunnah. Then he did not stop there but said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2676Sahih (Darussalam) Thus, we must always and forever, if we want to understand our creed, our worship, our morals, and our behavior, return to the righteous Salaf to understand all these matters that are necessary for the Muslim so that it is realized in him that he is from the saved sect. From here, old and new sects went astray when they did not pay any attention at all to the previous verse, to the hadith of the saved sect, and to the hadith of the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs after him (peace be upon him). So it was very natural that they deviated, just as those who preceded them deviated from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the methodology of the righteous Salaf. Among these are the Khawarij, both old and new.
