The Meaning of the Statement of Allah the Exalted: "Those who believe in the unseen."

The Shaykh : And His saying: [Al-Baqarah 2:3] What is meant by the unseen?
It means that which is hidden from the eyes of what Allah has informed us about, such as the Last Day, the recompense, Paradise, and the Fire. As for what is visible, every person believes in it. Every person believes in the earth, the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, and the trees. But the praise is for believing in the unseen, in which the believer relies on affirming the news of Allah and His Messenger. As for the visible thing, no one denies it, except a stubborn person like the Sophists who deny tangible things. There is a group among them who are almost like the insane; they deny even the tangible! He denies even himself! He says: "By Allah, I do not know if I am so-and-so or someone else."
It is mentioned that two men among them wanted to sleep, so one said to the other: "I am afraid we will make a mistake when we wake up from sleep, that we will make a mistake; I do not know if I am myself or you." So one of them said: "Let us tie two ropes, one on each of us. You tie a red rope, and I will tie a green rope, so that when we get up we do not make a mistake, we do not think that you are me and I am you!" Can it be said that these are sane people?!
Never. They deny every tangible thing, even the tangibles. You say, "This is the sun," and he says, "No, perhaps it is the moon!" O man, we are in the daytime, how can it be the moon? He says: "Glory be to Allah, perhaps it is the moon." This car, he says, "I do not know, perhaps this is an airplane!" Or perhaps it is a recorder, or perhaps it is a radio. And yet they say about themselves that they are sane. I say that tangible things are not denied except by a stubborn person like the Sophists. As for the unseen things, it is for believing in them that one is praised or blamed.
