The Shaykh : And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
offer your prayers in the way you saw me offering my prayers صلوا كما رأيتموني أصلي
Sahih al-Bukhari 6008
So he commanded us to pray as we saw him praying. This address is to the Companions, and the address of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to the Companions is an address to them and to the Ummah until the Day of Resurrection.
