The second question of Fatwa number ( 20269 )
Q2: What is the meaning of the claim that the one who recites this supplication (O Allah, send blessings and peace upon our master Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet from Quraysh, with the ocean of Your lights, the source of Your secrets, the eye of Your care, the tongue of Your argument, the best of Your creation, and the most beloved of creation to You, Your servant and Your Prophet, through whom You perfected the prophets and messengers, and upon his family and all his Companions) (12,000 times) sees the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?
A2 : Sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the wording mentioned in the question is a religious innovation (bid'ah) with no basis, and there is no evidence for it from the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of His Messenger. It is obligatory for every Muslim not to rely on it, but to restrict himself to what has come from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding how to send blessings upon him, for in that is sufficiency and all good, if Allah wills. For example, what was narrated by Muslim and al-Bukhari and Ahmad and al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on them), from Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), that he said: , and what came in the (Sahihayn) from Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him): that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about how to send blessings upon him, he said: Mishkat al-Masabih 919 . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us while we were in the gathering of Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah, and Bashir ibn Sa'd said to him: We have been commanded to send blessings upon you, so how do we send blessings upon you? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent until we wished he had not asked him, then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Say: O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon the family of Ibrahim, and bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed the family of Ibrahim in the worlds, for You are Praiseworthy and Majestic, and peace as you have been taught.
He told us to say, “O God, bless Muhammad and Muhammad’s family as Thou didst bless Abraham and Abraham’s family. Thou art indeed praiseworthy and glorious. O God, grant favours to Muhammad and Muhammad’s family as Thou didst grant favours to Abraham and Abraham’s family. Thou art indeed praiseworthy and glorious.”
